Overseas call centres

I had a little Fundy call last night , he started crapping on about some company analysing people in Western Australia , i said not interested sport. He said if i dont participate he will keep calling me , i did me block , he hung up. Went back to my rib eye.

I had a guy call me a few months ago trying on the Windows scam…I told him to pi$$ off and hung up but he kept calling me back. I started to get a bit cranky and he actually threatened to kill me unless I apologised for being rude. I told him I’m not apologising for anything given his sole intention for calling in the first place was to try and rip me off..he said he knew my name, telephone number and address from the electronic white pages and had friends in Perth. A bit scary I must say but fortunately he stopped calling after a while. Not much you can do given these guys are based in Africa or wherever.

Best thing to do is have a whistle on standby & blow the sh1t out of it right next to the phone, it has been 18 months since ive had a random call from anyone..

When I hear the pregnant pause I just hang up.

My favourite is to say just a minute there is someone at the door ,can you hang on and then leave them hanging for as long as it takes for them to give up..

I get a lot of these calls at my business and when they ask ‘is the manager there?’ or whatever I say ‘yes’ then put the phone down while they wait and go and do something else - wasting their time is the only real fightback.

Well I used to - really the best thing you can do (especially if they call your home) is hang up immediately. Don’t engage them and a callback (and their idle treats) is unlikely.

I am really fed up with unsolicited calls these days - and it really is thanks to the overwhelming number of scam (and perhaps not scam) sales calls. But as soon as someone says “Hi, I’m so and so from xxxxx” I hang up. I might be hanging up on some lovely person from a real charity (someone rang from Red Cross the other day and I’m sure it was legit) - but tough - that’s the way it is these days and I just can’t be bothered listening to any of it any more.

I heard from someone that a lot of these call centre pests are told not to hang up on anyone so therefore the "just hang on a minute " tactics mean they have to wait for you to pick up again and they make less of these invasive calls!

Also a silent number cuts out 99 per cent of these pests.

My missus says ‘hang on a minute’ puts the phone down and goes back to what she’s doing. I sometimes I like to engage them and have a bit of fun. I’ve had a couple of Indians call me a $%#@ and hang up on me…love it!! I might have been put on the black list, haven’t had a call for months!!!
