Not a lot to talk about this time of year. We have a new coach along some other changes, I suspect, to come in the footy department.
It will be interesting to find out what impact Peter German’s appointment will have amongst the current playing group. There will be some who to decide to move on to new pastures and others who may follow later once they see what the coach has planned. Hopefully those that stay will buy into the progrmme.
I would expect that there is plenty of activity happening already. Off-field there is some pertinent recruiting to be done. We are going to need a minimum of 5 or six quality recruits IMO. There may be more depending on losses that yet do not know of.
But we must have a tall key forward, a small goal kicking forward, two mids to support Byrner and Clarke, a tall key defender and a competent Hit-out ruckman.
There may be more depending on the number of core players that we have left and bearing in mind that the senior squad as a whole is going to need boosting, not just the league team.
I see a core of current players, #21 in number, who will have claims to the league side. Some pundits may tell you that there may be more but some of those players who I have included will make up the senior squad.
These are my thoughts atm and we will have to be patient and see what the outcomes will be.
We have been in this position before and have blown it. Let’s not blow this chance. It may be our last.
Sydney Stack on the move. Would be handy. We missed out on one of the new blokes Claremont has recruited from Vic so we are active, as you’d expect, but so is everybody else.

Stacky sure would be handy. Good to know we ARE in the game. Hopefully we are being very smart.
I would at least have expected to have heard of new assistants and colts and reserves appointments but nothing. Chris Mayne would be ideal in charge of the colts.
Scott Moore is the new Colts coach.
I think it may be a very good appointment.
he seems to have done a very good job with the Futures and Development squads.
And I have not heard any negatives about him.
Good to see some change in the Football Department.
I would expect the Reserves Coach will come with input from PG.
Would love to see Stack back at the Club, if he is committed.
Does anybody know if PG has arrived as yet?

Scott Moore has been appointed Colts Coach for the next two years.

When he was interviewed on 91.3 he was in Victoria sorting things out for the move and said he would be back in Perth on the weekend.
When was the interview?

28/9
Thanks Satan, yes I heard that interview.
It is now 13/10 was just wondering if he is at work at Lathlain yet.
Wonder if he had any input to Scott Moore’s appointment.
Well, we’re not off to a good start, with C and EF apparently picking up players that we were chasing. Obviously we can’t get everyone we go after, but it highlights the problem of attracting players to come to Perth when they must know we are at the start of what is likely to be a lengthy rebuild. Unfortunately, I don’t share the confidence that others seem to have of German having enough cachet to attract players. It will come down almost entirely to money - do we have enough and are we prepared to spend it?
I think the jury is firmly out on whether Stack would be disciplined and motivated should he return to WAFL. Sadly, our record with mercurial players like him has not been good: Clem Smith, Narrier, ET, for example. Anyway, early days, I will remain hopeful of some good news coming our way soon.
Considering Stack thought leaving WA was his best chance of establishing an AFL career, would he think by remaining in the VFL , with say an AFL affiliated side, would facilitate the best chance of showcasing his undoubted skills and more importantly desire to get back on an AFL list?
One would think if he did come back to WA, WCER could be that AFL affiliate side he seeks perhaps… WCE might even view Stack as a rookie replacement for Junior Rioli…give him 12 months to show them he is serious or not.
I agree with comments about Stack. We have been bitten too many times to not be very cautious with mercurial yet undisciplined players. Yes Smith, Narrier, another Stack and Taylor do come to mind.
Mitch Crowden cut. Very good player at WAFL level, and only 24 next year. He’s someone we should definitely speak to.
I know it probably doesn’t mean too much just yet but has anyone noticed the senior list on the club site? Fisher and McInniss are both gone but Haydn Busher is still there. Connor MacDonald has been added to the senior list.
Would love Bush to go around again. Would also like Mayne to stay. Crowden would be great. Training will be starting in about 2 weeks - we should know more then. Apparently people will be impressed with the assistant coaches German brings along.
Is it time for Trevor Williams to step aside?
Anyone got any word on the Stand. This is a very important part of the next two years for us.
Yes it would be great to see Busher and Mayne go around again.
Zolnier-Owens, Weymouth, Fairbank, Warrell & Preston Coates all recent colts graduates.
Will be interesting to see their development, if any.
Okay TFAF, do you have an insight to the “new” assistant coaches?
I am certainly hoping German brings his own.
Yes time for Williams to be shown the door.
Time for complete change.
DF, I don’t know who they are - but was told by someone (who I think knows footy very well) that if German gets who he is after everyone will be very happy.
Just thought about the Mayne thing. As he went for the coaching role - I imagine that he probably can’t play under German. A fantastic clubman though and I trust we will see him supporting us from time to time.
Gee we were bad this year. This is going to need a herculean effort.
Trevor Williams and others have been a good clubmen in several different roles but it is time to see new faces in the off-field team - football manager and assistants etc.
A promising start if Germo is bringing in his own assistants. Looking forward to learning who they are.
Yes, I hope Bush does go round again and I can see no reason why Chopper should not play in an on-field leadership role.
Perhaps Germo has other plans??
As for promising colts players stepping up, I think Philip, Zolnier-Owens, Preston-Coates are likely to establish their claims in the senior squad although we should not place too much pressure on them but allow them to gradually find their way.
Some encouraging comments on this thread and hopefully we will soon see what is in store for the club from here.
