I agree Swan. The head ducking shoulder shrugging is becoming a blight on the game.It is the same as leading with your head into the oncoming player. The umpire calls play on you ducked into him,or such. What is the difference!!Play on should be called.Or better still make it like diving and playing for free kicks.Make it an offence to do it.
Eagles have been doing it for 2 years now. It is normally the same guys, when are the opposition going to realise. I am not a fan of ducking but it wont be umpired out. I dont think it would be too difficult to try to grab the shirt instead. The duckers take themselves to ground, just meatheads continually come in high.
It is staging isn’t it.Even though it is drawing a free kick, it is till staging, and is an offence by the AFL. Just have to get the umpires advisor Geishan to tell the umpires.
no use telling the umpires, they are the ones giving these stagers a kick in the 1st place.
video review panel needs to start suspending the likes of Ballantyne, Thomas and the Selwoods and get them to change their habits..
the game is supposed ot be played by men, not girls who want to act like its a school play
Didnt agree with that decison.. BUT we had 22 to 12 frees in OUR favour, so i can hardly complain… Eags ALWAYS win the free kick count here, therein is the diff
Mate you lost the game by a kick that free kick cost you…free kick count irrelevant!
There may be an inbalance of frees but what the stats dont tell you is how many are there and how many are not…to both teams!!
So what turns out to be 10 different,8 may have been spot on with only 2 on the nose.Who knows??who keeps those sort of stats???
So let’s be balanced in our appraisals. From now on, if you “umpire knockers” want to keep any sort of credibility, then it’s only fair that you highlight umpiring inconsistency and one sided free kick counts from EVERY game EVERY week. If you’re not interested in doing this, then you fall into the perennial whinger category and hold the credibility status of the Barras, Whatelys and Darcys of the footy world.
Or is it more fun just to highlight the Subi games?
Huh??.. lets focus on how many free kick counts at Subi the eags have "lost over 2 and a half years. I would think over what 28 matches they would have not lost one, that is an amazing stat, doubtful it would be matched ANY ground in the AFL on such an over whelming basis. Umpires and free kick counts will ALWAYS be be inconsistant…why isnt this the case at the eagles at subi then 58? I dont “blame” the eags, io blame the umps who obvioulsy get intimidated by the crowd at Subi
Interesting question s/born. I think Eagles supporters are the most intimidating in the environment of Subi… dont know about “the best”. With 38,000 people all baying for the same team, its going to effect the umpires of that i am sure. Put it this way.. i freely admit my Cats got a great run with the upms agaisnt the Pies on sat at the “G”, very rarely do i hear Eags supporters say the have a good run with the umps at Subi, when 99.9% of the time they do
You missed my point unk or you’re saying that the WCE are the only AFL team that has ‘baying, intimidating’ supporters and they are the only ones to continually get home team advantage. I’m never interested in frees for/agin nor umpiring stats. What you get is what you get - home/away. I stick to player stats.
Eagles support the most intimidating - yeah right, and pigs fly. What did The late great George G use to call them? Chardonnay swillers. Dockers fans are more intimidating - they are hungrier after nigh on 20 years of underachieving. Collingwood and Richmond are the most feral by a country mile. Tigers fans in Melbourne just plain wierd looking - can barely string a sentence together.
