Night game against the Cardinals

I didn’t know the team. I just know the game is going to finish late. The crowd size will be interesting. The presence or not of Subiaco history in the clubroom will be of interest to me, at least. I get that the club needs to make a buck but we have some great photos from the last. 127 years that really should be on display.

The whole day will be interesting. If it works, that’s great. I’m looking forward to it.

There ya go JL. Clark out is a big loss and I see Berenger has been dropped. On paper, I think we’ll struggle a bit to contain the jerker’s scoring options, but hopefully it’ll be a contest of the two forward lines and we can get up.

Subi by 10 points.

Thanks BC. I’ll be keeping all eye on Walker, shearer and murison. That’s where the future lies. Or not.

?

I see Braut named in the ressies and Evitt is out for the year with a knee, damn

This is going to be a midfield battle I reckon BC.Both teams have reasonable forwards(although height wise Borchet,Mayo and May will be a problem for us).Obviously Keitel is good but we rely on our smalls for goals and they were MIA last week (although Knott has had a good start to the year). We will rely on our midfield cutting supply to your forwards and the Eaton v Sprigg battle is crucial .Night football and the likelihood of low scoring will come into it as well so can’t see either side dominating on the scoreboard.Tackling pressure will also be a factor and we have done that side of things pretty well in the first two games.Whoever wins the mids and maintains the pressure for longer will come out on top.

night games starting at 7.00, what a joke. most supporters will not go, so whats the point.

Sadly the Wafl has been allowed to wither away on the vine for too long!
The point may be officialdom is trying night games to try & boost attendances and more interest? With too much crap on television nowadays, a televised night match might be a hit for anyone unable to attend? Other sports attract good crowds under lights with a good example being soccer. With Wafl crowds embarrassingly low in recent years, I suppose something needs to be tried. Just my thoughts.

The Lions have been pathetic - they musn’t like the late start either

We were bad. Not sure why. West perth were faster and stronger. And taller than our defenders. We couldn’t spoil.

West perth seemed up for the occasion and we weren’t.

We were terrible but it’s a reflection of the playing list and where the club is at right now. We were beaten right across the park and I don’t see a whole lot of hope going forward for the rest of the year. :frowning:

We got done in the colts and the futures are going terribly as well. Braut played well in the ressies. Ash looked like he might get his annual recall to the league soon. He was one of our best.

Correction: the futures finished better than they started.

Couldn’t believe my eyes, haven’t seen a $ubi side with minimal effort for 20+ years. We were similar to the Swans game, last week v Perth it was our own undoing.

you see the problem is with scabiaco is there getting low on loot. strange how they’re not getting all the top players anymore and a couple of sponsors have taken a walk. so not many members, not many supporters and the loot is dwindling. four years of losses, the well is drying.

Good point Screemy. Maybe we could go into administration, stiff our mum and dad creditors, and have the WAFC bail us out. Now that sounds like plan but we’ll need guidance from someone who’s done it before. Who could that be?

BC, i noticed in the budget that the Lions only have one player thats played more than 100 games, also only one player with 4 points, all the rest are 1 point players. Correct me if im wrong. This looks like an Eagles falure managing the player group or is that dodo screamer right.

You both get a thank you. This is a good old fashioned Ozfooty slag-off. Gold ?

Hi Winger. Nice to hear from you mate and hope all is well your end. I guess the footy wheel goes around and now it’s our turn to struggle but in saying that, I’m not seeing a whole lot of light at the end of the tunnel.

We’ve had mass retirements over the last few years with all of the guys from our golden era now gone. The young blokes who’ve taken their place just aren’t up to it at the moment and our depth is really being tested. Wardman has given a lot of younger players a run which is the correct thing to do but we seem to be devoid of any real talent.

A fair bit of that could be down to AFL recruiters picking the eyes out of our youngsters in the last 2 or 3 years such as Collard, Hansen Jr, Tholstrup, Kentfield, Brockman, Dewar, Champion and so on but that’s the same for every WAFL club.

We’ve only had one home grown Sandover medalist in the 30 years since Dargie won in 1994 being Priddis which highlights the fact we’re not great at developing and keeping our juniors unlike say Claremont or EF.

I’m sure it’ll turn around but think we’re in for some shellackings before it does. I’m also of the view Wardman is past his use by date and it’s well and truly time for someone else to have a crack.

Not like the good (or bad!,) old days DD of Gremar.Sreemar is just eccentric but Gremar was nuts.

Spot on with Wardman, never been a fan myself.
Also not happy about the removal of memorabillia from the clubrooms and the addition of a black and gold cap to our club colours.
