If we want a real footy person who’s been a quality player at WAFL & AFL levels, is well educated, has had an in depth and extensive admin career in footy and actually has a passion for the game at all levels, then Bell is the type of person we need IMHO.
I realise that i am probably the only person on here that listens to the ABC but on the way home from the beach this morning Mr Bell categorically denied he was interested, he is enjoying his current role and basically had no interest.
I like Belly - but he seems to have a lot of people that don’t like him for reasons that they find difficult to explain. Similar to Basil Zemplis - who again I like but others hate.
Been whispers going around Brad Wira (Former FFC player) is the front runner for the role.
I know he was a part of the talent pathway review and was involved at one of the PSA schools.
Yeah,but he was on a Panel seriously reviewing the WA Junior System.
One Radical Idea supposedly from that,was the WA Talent Academy,which practically requires the WAFL Clubs to hand over their best Talent,NEVER TO BE SEEN AGAIN!
Just curious if the Clubs were given a POISON PILL Option to vote for that or the retention of The Football Budget.
He might be a lightweight to some,but that’s a heavyhanded Gun pointed at the WAFL Clubs,if that happened.

Will be interesting for sure - read in the West that he is reserving judgement on a 20th AFL license out of WA. Not sure that is one on the CEO’s remit. that would be the board he has left.
Also concerning, that his resume in “Talent” is of a priority either.
The CEO needs to be able to bring a team together to serve the wider football community. Not sure there is experience in that area either.
Anyway - would be interesting to know who else was in the mix.
Seems like an agenda appointment but hopefully he is not out of his depth and can improve the organisation and bring the stakeholders together.
Claremont would be wrapped if there is no footy budget which is the easiest way to see facts at a glance like number of home grown and imported players from outside zones and number of home grown talls for example 196cm plus.
Claremont dominates both key stats and has done for decades hence their domination of
Talent Academy is a good idea in my opinion - it removes the inequality in coaching and organisation for the top end talent.
But all these resources invested in the less than 1% of participants is not what the governing body should be focussed on - nor is the WAFL the next most important stakeholder.
