New ground naming rights sponsor!

Just been announced mining company Mineral Resources will be the new naming rights sponsor of Lathlain Park. I thought someone would splash the cash once the Eagles moved into Lathlain Park as their new home. We get 70k out of it per year.

“Financial details of the deal were not released today but it is understood the Perth Football Club alone will receive a boost of around $70,000 per year as part of the deal.”

So from now on over the next 5 years it will be known as Mineral Resources Park. Not exactly sexy but can’t sneeze at 70k I guess.

Whatever it takes

Pity Wang’s Asian Cuisine in St James couldn’t sponsor us. Taking hangs at Wangs has a nice ring to it. But if Mineral Resources want to sling us 70k a year that’s great.

Keep up at the back, DD.

Wow. $70,000 per year for 5 years. For that sort of coin they can call it what they like.

Fark, DD … I thought OzF had a rule against posting selfies.

If they don’t, OFA should look into it quick smart. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes Smokey great news for the Club.
I am pretty sure that $70k is far higher than our previous ground naming rights deals.
Good result for the Club.
Some very good signs in the last few weeks that things just may be changing at Lathlain.
Our new premises getting closer to fruition I believe.
May well bring a new era of success for the Club.

DF, for too long we have been trying to find a defence against that dreaded “A” word. But we need not worry anymore because now we can embrace it for what it now really represents.
Alignment was always about the things we dreaded. Now it is a totally different genre. WCE no longer need an alignment with a WAFL Club ala East Perth as an expedient extension of it’s player structure.
We, ie Perth Football Club, have been fortunate and blessed that the Eagle has landed at Lathlain Park ( err sorry, Mineral Resources Park) on a ground sharing basis that not only preserves our total independence as an original WAFL club but that opens new and exciting opportunities for growth and prosperity as a community minded body and at the same time strengthening our future position as an eminently successful sporting club respected and admired not only in football circles but WA sport generally.
It seems to be no accident that the exciting future we see for our club coincides with the election of a new Board committed to change and to take us forward into the future.
I am both optimistic and excited about the future of our club.

Spot on Smokey.
We have an opportunity and the people capable of changing us.
The Phoenix may be rising.
Opposition be afraid very afraid.

$70k a year. Got to be happy with that.

It is a good deal. I would be interested to learn if they have to give a % of that to the Vic Park Council.
The Bassendean Council get a huge chunk in order that Bassendean Oval be officially called Steel Blue Oval.

Also the good people of Perth FC should look out for a push by the Eagles to have Hungry Jacks looking after your match day food outlets.

I don’t think HJ’s is likely TRSM. Maccas sponsored the competition for a couple of years and you didn’t see Maccas vans at the game. Or at least to my knowledge you didn’t.

Hj’s don’t sponsor the comp, they sponsor the Eagles and what the Eagles want they get .
Watch this space.

Perth Football Club have their own very good canteen and run it themselves. It’s a source of revenue. If Hungry Jack’s want to plaster the boundary lines with signage no problem with that as long as Perth FC get a piece of the action for the exposure on match days and tv broadcast games.

That is incorrect DD with respect. The Canteen originally was run by the club but in more recent years has been operated by external caterers who also do the catering for the function rooms.
Interesting point here is that back in the day = like the 60s and 70s = there was a commercial kitchen and dining/function room down under the social hall now converted to the club’s gym.
It is my understanding that the new President is looking at the club once again becoming self sufficient and operating all functions and catering as fully commercial operations and maximising the full revenue potential of them.
I applaud that prospect.

Fair enough Smokey I wasn’t 100% sure. I know former CEO Liz Bradley put a lot of effort into building that canteen which is as good if not better than any in the WAFL and she put a lot of effort into creating the function centre. I can’t see how the club can recreate the old kitchen/function centre downstairs as that would leave the club without a gym.

Obviously with the old facilities due to be replaced in the coming years there is an opportunity to create something special to meet all the clubs needs. Claremont oval has a commercial gym attached with a cafe on the main street. I think we need an experienced CEO to oversee the next phase of club with new facilities on the horizon, ground sharing with the WCE and other community services that will be available around the Lathlain Park precinct.

DD, all of that but it is not going to happen overnight. It will take the redevelopment of the club premises. I do not know the timing but it may take several years to put everything in place.
I agree about the CEO. The next phase of our redevelopment is going to require a very special multi skilled professional to steer what needs to be done.Simply put we have to raise our game to greater levels in comparison to what has become generally accepted as the norm for WAFL clubs.
It is a totally new game we face…pardon the pun.

Watch this space.
The new regime have all the expertise and resources to handle all of that.
I can assure THE REAL SWANSMAN that HJs will be nowhere near our premises.
The PFC has nothing to do with the WCE other than sharing OUR ground.
Listen up.
PFC is an independent Club which is one of the original WANFL Clubs.
It has been around for 120 years and will be around much longer into the future.
Get the drift?
