my 2c on the goodes topic

Whats the reason people dont like him?
[/quote]

is that a serious question bazza?

Yep, he is pretty honest as a writer and avoids exaggerating.

Yep give me a list of reasons.

I dislike booing immensely and believe its an exercise for wkers, maybe it is the wkers in the crowd recognising a fellow w**ker and calling out to him (Goodes)

I took a bit of licence and made your comment more relevant unk  :stuck_out_tongue:
But I agree with all of this. I can’t remember these “racists” booing Nic Nat, the Hills, Houli, Cyril etc. I’ve never met Adam, but he has very unlikeable personality. As one bloke said on 91.3 today, WCE supporters are into nicknames - Jako, Woosha etc - they’ve just nicknamed Goodes - BOOOO.

Yep give me a list of reasons.

  1. Diver
  2. Sniper
  3. Protected species ( read above)
  4. Knees to players on the ground
  5. Egotist ( most aussies dislike egotists)
  6. Dividing a wedge rather than trying to build relationships going forward
  7. A war dance, serioulsy??
  8. AOTY, though in his defence here he didnt “chose” this one, BUT many people thought it a joke.

You’ve got it in one again unk.

absolutely spot on with regard to the media comments.

media are offering absolutely no other explanation for the booing. i was at the game and there was a lot of booing but not a single racial thing was said, every sledge was football related from the hands in the back to the lack of competitiveness on behalf of goodes.

but of course to make a talking point everyone plays the race card.
some have already said it but Aka, peter materea, brent harvey being booed, apparently thats fair game but booing goodes is not allowed?

isn’t that racist? not to treat him like others simply because he is aboriginal.

of course all IMO

All those reasons seem pretty plausible to me Unka…especially those first five perfectly describe Goodes the footballer…he might be a top bloke…obviously Jetta thinks so to do what he did…alll Jetta has done is fuel the racist debate again…quite surorised he wasnt frogmarched from the ground for is actions…as they say actions speak louder than words

Is that seriously it?

Every Swan Districts member and supporter should be proud of the way Lewis Jetta stood up to the crowd that day. It was a Nicky Winmar moment.

Like the saying goes UNKA2 -

“thou doth protest too much”

yeah right …Bazza you are a Sydney fan and you think the sun shines out of Goodes arse…Goodes is unpopular by opposition fans because of those first 5 reasons Unka gave…plus an extra one in that he is a bloody good player…none have a racist connection at all…Jetta was being protective I can see that…just think he over reacted and misread the situation in the heat of the battle…hence the war dance I guess ;)…

This has gone on long enough footballers have been booed for as long as I can remember shit even I was booed playing Country football in the 70’s. This has nothing to do with racism in my opinion and has been taken out of context. If Goodes didn’t react to it then it would soon stop but as has been said in previous posts on this if a team’s supporters think that they can gain an advantage for their team by niggling a player (especially a good one) then why not.

Thought Mike Shehan spoke really well on it on Skynews last night.

In all his years of watching VFL/AFL and hearing booing and vitriol against players he says the Goodes stuff is by far the worst and is personal and unwarranted and deeply shameful regarding the players ability on the ground. He believes there is a element of racism although to what degree it’s hard to define.

umpires get booed day in day out by every supporter base..why hasn’t anyone in the industry jumped to their defence and said it must stop because its hurting their feelings? would we be even having this discussion if Goodes wasn’t Aboriginal? its the media, Goodes himself and the likes of the Sydney president and Jetta who have turned this into a racial issue.

In America this action would be banned and Goodes fined. What’s happened to a hand-shake and a back-slap? Goodes has bought this on himself. Sad way to end a great career.

bazza…if this is not about the individual and as you say, its about race then why don’t supporters boo all aboriginal players?

pretty sure Paddy Ryder got booed by the Essendon fans on the weekend for wearing the wrong coloured jumper and not for the colour of his skin…ditto for Franklin when Hawthorn played Sydney last year…

Noticed Paddy Ryder got booed by Essendon on saturday night.. Didn’t hear him say it was racist. Perhaps I know what the “F” in AFL stands for. Goodes WAS a champion who forgot to retire like some champion’s do. He has since become a SNIPER & gets away with it. Dawn Fraser, Mohammed Ali, Ron Barassi etc were also champions but remained as champion people. Goodes wont. Next we will have players thanking umpires for frees against them. Wake up Adam, its called SLEDGING. Mind games are getting to him as his team slide down the ladder.
