If we drop this one then finals will be pretty much done and dusted. I thought our effort last week was much better than against East Freo as at least we had a crack. The youngsters acquitted themselves quite well and I see a lot of upside with the likes of South and Eaton. I don’t think there’ll be too many changes if any at all so hopefully we’ll get it done in the wet against a Perth who are missing a few as well.
It was a very strong Peelmantle side that would have troubled any of the top 4, so our effort was encouraging. Peelmantle had a little more poise and fitness than us but just 1 straight kick in the end.
If we bring the same intensity to West Coast arena, we should do well. Not sure I’ll make the trek down from York given the weather, there’s not much cover there apart from the delapadated stand, so hopefully it will be live streamed.
I’ll be praying for rain. The only way Perth can win is if we have an ugly, low scoring game. Subi always run us off our feet, so the wet might nullify that a bit. McInnes is out, which may not hurt too much in the wet. He should be replaced by a small. Coniglio would seem the obvious choice.
A weekend of wet weather footy coming up. Can’t see any high scoring matches this weekend. Apparently most of the rain forecast for saturday morning with continuing showers in the afternoon around the grounds.

Ted the last wet game I went to at Lathlain was a few years back when we were at our peak and you beat us by 4 points I think. The oval was pretty much an ankle deep lake, a couple of the smalls were in danger of drowning. The new surface should cope a lot better I hope. Will be a hard slow slog and anyones game.

A couple of changes with South going out which is a bit tough after just one game where I thought he did ok. Also good to see Braut named in the ressies. Perth missing Ainsworth, Ajang and McInnes which will help our cause but the weather could make it a hard slog. Subi by 10 points.

A must win is an understatement for this one! Must start putting together some wins if we are going to defend our premiership. We let the game slip last week in the second half and haven’t really had a consistent 4 quarter effort all year. Will be a slog but hopefully we are up for it this week. Conditions probably contributed to Jake South going back this week. Braut would have been handy in this game if fit , but good to see him back in the twos. Jacob Atkinson still out along with both Materas?
Plenty of grunt around the contests with Kitch, Marsh, the Hickmonts, Harris, Vanirsen, Dela and Eaton, will be needed as it looks like they’ll need floaties to make it through the game. Happy that it’s on the WCE surface as Leederville does not cope with too much rain with the clay base and the heavy load of 7 teams on just one oval. No surprise we dropped a tall and brought in some smalls. Great to See Braut back, if he gets through the ressies unscathed he should come straight back into the league team.
Any win is a good win especially the way we’re travelling at the moment. Our forward line continues to struggle but it’s certainly not helped by the way the ball is delivered. You can’t keep bombing the ball in and expect guys like Sokol and Borchet at 186 and 190cm to take contested marks all the time.
Giro terrific, Dela very good and the Hickmott’s both had good games. Heal held the backs together again while youngsters Eaton and Robbins had solid games. I thought Vanirsen improved as the game went on but looking forward to getting Max back next week and Braut who went ok in the ressies. Losing Harry Marsh in the first quarter with a hammy didn’t help the midfield balance or rotations.
We’re still a long way off where we need to be but given we’re getting a few back, hopefully we’ll improve each week.
Enjoyable day at the footy. Still day. Perth looked pretty good for a lot of the day. Good spread, quick, clean. Just had no way of getting past heal and Gus.
Think vanirsen took some big steps. Robins ditto. Breman continues to improve. Hickmonts good too. Impressed by passion of Perth supporters. Good on them.
We were promised a wet weather slog but it was almost perfect footy conditions. Unfortunately the standard was pretty poor, but we are talking about bottom 4 teams at the moment. We started well and had the rub of the umpires green in the first, but the D’s fought back well their conversion rate was elite while ours was ordinary, 8.1 to 7.5 at the half. The umps had just about squared things up by halftime but were missing obvious frees for both teams an paying tiggy touchwood stuff. Third qtr was where we won the game with 4 straight to 2 points, we were delivering the footy better but not great, Perth appeared to tire but then kicked on well in the last. Both teams inaccurate, Perth 2.4 to Su 1.4. Giro was great as was Dela, the Hickmonts and the back 6 were great and the main reason for the win. Vanirsen was much improved, Robbins added some genuine pace and got better as the game went on. Hard to be too critical of our key forwards given the poor delivery. Losing a senior mid in Marsh early really impacted the rotations, Kitch was well held again, needs some more help in the mids.
An uninspiring win but much needed. If we can get over WCER next week at pharking Optus, we hit mid season at 4 & 5 with a faint sniff of making finals, with all but WCER and maybe Perth in the hunt for the last finals spot. I think the top 4 is starting to look pretty set.
Agree there SS got the four points but nothing inspiring about the win. Vanirsen probably played his best game so far and looks suited to a centre square role rather than half forward tho he bobbed up with two important goals. Dela was great but looked banged up by the end of the game. Will probably be without Harry Marsh next week but Max Walters should be back and another must win ( as most games will be from here in !) against WCE.
