Just noticed that Murray Newman has landed himself in strife with the law. Charged with GBH after an altercation in Northbridge last weekend. Not good news for such a promising young player, would be a shame if Swannies were unable to utilise him in the final year before the rubbish alignments take effect.
We could actually have him full time if Nisbett sacks him Hachii …unless of course his punishment is being sent to the East Perth Eagles for 2013!
Mmm… sounds like it is a similar situation to the one Kraks found himself in BH. He may gladly take the East Perth Eagle sentence over the one he is likely to face. Fear that he will be lost to footy for a while.
Gets even worse,he couldn’t beat the coach home in a pre season test run.Ran stone motherless in the time trial.
Woosha beat him twice. Bit of problem there maybe?
Also Newman was required to go on the Cambodian Camp with some of his team mates. He didn’t go and the club found out from a family member the day he was to fly out.
Woosha was fuming. Word is he wants time off and may be intentionally attempting to get that time off.
A waste as he is very talented! Lets hope he turns it around
Maybe he just doesnt want to be there! Hell i wouldnt!
Ran over 9 and a half minutes for the 2km apparently.
Just read the paper that was his second run apparently, ran a 8 13 on his first run.
Walters got exiled back to Swans last year, for returning in bad shape. Newman might be wanting the same thing. Never got reported just how unfit Walters was, unlike Newman…
Swans can roll out the fitness program they had for Sonny..
Dayle Garlett might be joining him back at Swans with a lot of clubs not keen on drafting him due to his off-field lifestyle
I thought that the fitness or lack of it was well reported and made know in the press. It made back page headlines in the West made the Sunday Times, made all the Tv sports news.I thought everyone one knew he was a bit of a porker before the start of the season just gone.It was not he first time Walters had returned unfit for pre-season.He has come back fat the previous two years. That is the reason he has only played 21 games for the Dockers.
I hope Newman is banished back to us and i hope Garlett doesnt get a gig either!!
Anchorman, with Walters it was a case of the club coming out and saying that his fitness levels weren’t up to AFL standard. The point being that there wasn’t anything specific mentioned, for example, the coach creaming him in a time trial, and him coming dead last. Unlike what WC have done with Newman. They seem to be more than a little upset with Newman and seem to be making it personal, not the most positive thing for someone to deal with when you consider recent events.
Of course WC should be upset with Newman. He is on a serious charge and is unfit.
At least Walters wasn’t on a criminal charge, but the Dockers made it very clear to all and sundry that he was very much under done and out of shape.Did everything but call him a little porky. Doesn’t come much more personal than that.Lyon took one look at him and told him to go away and get fit then think about coming back.Lyon knew that he wouldn’t run out time trials so why try him out.
Not saying one approach is right or wrong ,just saying that both clubs have publicly admonished their player.
Apparently Newman from Swan Districts left todays game against Claremont at quarter time? He walked up the race at quarter time, into the rooms, grabbed his bag and departed from the ground. Presumably went home. I thought Swans had turned the corner after the big win last week and playing very well in todays game. There would obviously need to be a good reason why he’s done that!? Not a very good course of action considering the importance of todays match. Obviously Swan Districts would be upset. I can’t recall a similar occurrence happening before. That meant Swans would have been a man down on the bench.
It’s unbelievable! I’ve not heard of a similar occurrence happening before. If he was injured, surely he wouldn’t have walked out?
Swan Districts were switched on today and their fans would be very happy with the final score line.
has happened before.bruce mcknight was pulled off the ground just before three quarter time about 20 years ago with east perth 8 goals ahead.east perth did not score a goal in the last quarter and the sharks went on to win by 3 ponts.mcknight went to soufs and played a bit of footy but didn’t set the world on fire.as for murray if he has walked thank goodness the eagles didn’t force him to play with us as we are already blamed for enough stuff.i thought he was already close to the delisting list but with this stunt he may replace sampi as the biggest waste of talent.
Chaddy, he ain’t that big a talent. Hope his reason for today’s behaviour warrants his actions otherwise he’s finished at both afl & wafl level. Mighty effort by the other 21 fellas who were down to 20 after Howard left the ground.
