Most memorable match

Very good ruckman for us, only had a couple of seasons though, back problems if i recall correctly

Greame are you the West Perth fullback. That was at Swans for a few years.Big torpedo punts from the points kick ins.

2010 gf hard to go past for sheer adrenalin rush alone.1985 a home game against EF at Basso as an 11yr old kid - first time I’d seen my heroes in the flesh - can’t recall who won but the roar from the Macca stand back in those years was something special to be a part of

Yeah I remember that game DW…I was 18 and remember seeing three youngsters decked in B&W sitting in the Macca stand, crying as they squabbled over their sandwiches with the crusts cut off from their Billy Walker lunch box…EF won that game pretty easy and the roar was directed to the SD player playing on Wrensted that gsme…Muzza had a lazy 30 possessions on the way to another 5 Sandover Medal votes and ultimately the Sandover that year…were those 3 lads u, BH and Swandog by chance?

Just finished watching the 1990 GF versus Claremont.

Not sure when but it was at joondy. we lost but made the finals, all the cardies fans were even more, well you know that day cos all they had to do was win by a margin! Bliss!

SD v Don Pyke from memory

Nope not me…I always ate me crusts

Hopefully Freeze you were also at the return clash at the leaky aquarium which just happened to be the well overpaid public servant Big Ron’s 300th game…in the pouring rain SD caused a massive upset to send Big Ron off the ground in tears along with an 18yo overzealous Old Easts fan who no doubt was also trying to avoid a young SD’s Andy Holmes!

More SD vs Mark Hann

G’day all. I’m a long time viewer of this site, this is my first post and I love the WAFL.

I can’t split my most memorable match between two great derbies:
Monday 6th June 1983 with Noel Carter’s infamous point after the siren &
Sunday 21st September 1997 Grand Final with South’s come from behind win.

Special mentions to the 1978 Grand Final (in the wet) between Perth & East Perth, and the 2010 Grand Final between Swans & Claremont. They were wonderful games of footy!

game, set, match jack…the most beautiful game of footy I can remember.

No mate, just an old Cardies supporter who as a young bloke spent every Saturday I could at the footy during the 80’s. Use the players from that era’s time as my user names for all manner of forums. Even named my dog after one of our not so successful recruits from the 80’s.

I think it was in the eighties.Murray couper kicked a goal and I remember cheering even tho we were a long way back.I think the cardies had to win by about 50 points for us not to make the finals.(actually last round of 1980).cardies won by 30 points and missed ou on making the finals by percentage.

How could I not mention the 95 Grand Final. 20 years of pent up frustration, keeping a handle on Heatley was the key. Smashed them, what a day, even had a streaker.

I spent the whole match hoping someone would crunch Pyke 42 hence my comment. I’d love to get hold of a copy of that game. Is that something you could assist with…happy to fork out for a copy

DW my copy is from the ABC. The commentary team was Keith Slater, Trevor Jenkins, Wally Foreman and Ken Casellas.

Yes I remember that match gwp.
The old former club known as East Perth were playing East Fremantle.
I think at Perth Oval? 1992 or 1993.
East Fremantle were blown away in the first quarter and remained a long way behind on the scoreboard. And found themselves about 7 or 8 goals behind at three quarter time.. East Fremantle were able to get themselves back into the match when their opposition fell asleep in the last quarter. Remarkably, East Fremantle kept plugging away in the Final term to win the match by the one point.
Which was all well and fantastic if one was an East Fremantle supporter. I think that being the abc radio broadcast match too from memory. abc radio used to broadcast a Wafl match in those days.
I think East Fremantle came out the following week and blew West Perth away?

Remember a wet Sept afternoon later that year seeing Big Ron cry a few more tears BH… as for Andy Holmes mate pretty sure he cried after that game v Mt Lawley…yeah he gave me a thrashing, but come end of the day Mt Lwaley won the game

Graeme I was at the 95 GF.With my father and brother that where Cardies supporters. Remember 75 % of the crowd was West Perth. Leaving after the match a WP fan waving a flag wasn’t watching the road. And ran into the car in front. Lol.
