Mitch McGovern

He has officially told Adelaide he wants out. Here we go again Fremantle supporters. Can we entice a key positional player back home who can play forward or back? He is EXACTLY the type of player we need. His old man played for Freo so absolutely no excuses. If we can’t entice him to come to Fremantle then I reckon that says a lot about our coach.

DD didn’t he decline a very generous offer last year to return to Freo. Stayed at the Crows for far less . Spat it when he found out what Gibbs was getting paid.Great player hope Freo can get him.

What does Hackdorn say and the opposite will be true?

Gtr last year he probably signed on the emotion of Adelaide having a great year. 12 months is a long time in football. Our neighbors will be having a big say hence I put the topic on AFL General. If WC get him we need to make a play for one of their kpp’s like Barrass who might find himself fighting to keep his spot with both McGovern’s in the side.

If they go to the same lengths they went to to get that spud Cam Mcarthy they should be able to get McGovern if he’s keen

McGovern is a second or third tall, not the number one key forward that we desperately need. If he does come to Freo he’ll be expected to be the number one key forward and that’s just not the role he plays. If we already had a key forward then yes McGovern would be a great addition to our team.

Exactly correct Mr AFL.

Not sure that the Eagles need McGov2. Certainly hope they hang on to Barrass - would rather see him on the list than McG.

Freo would probably have to offer up their pick 5 to get him and that’s too much for a guy who only averages 1 goal a game.

Jusdging by the history of the dockers deals that sounds like the sort of thing they would leap at..value plus…

Pick 5 on its own is more than I think McGoven is worth but if the Docker can get a return pick like #19 (start of the 2nd round) or a more realistic chance of pick #39 (start of the 3rd round)) from the crow as well then it might be alright. We can still grab another young player with that pick

They would have to trade lachie Neale, can’t see it happening. Him and fyfe are the only ones with currency considering hill boys going nowhere

I’m not sure they can have such a high asking price as McGovern wants out, they will try a drive a hard bargain but just like the Bulldogs and Stringer you wouldn’t really be wanting him to turn around and stay after requesting to leave. Very unsettling

With highly ranked SA 18s boys like Lukosius, Rankine, Rozee, Hately, Munn et al likely to be highly sought after very early in the draft Adelaide will be trying to position themselves up to nab at least 2 or 3 of these hometown kids…they will drive a very hard bargain for Gov Jnr!

Certainly not worth pick 5.
I am not sure he is the type of forward we need or want.He goes missing quite often. Prefer to keep developing the likes of Apeness, Cox and Taberner.
I read an article today about the big fish Fremantle have missed out on as forwards.Travis Cloke and Mitch Clarke. So glad the line broke before we reeled those two in. Neither would have been value to Fremantle.Yep both could play, but they carried baggage.
If we miss on McGovern it wont be a loss.

McGovern is a second or third tall forward, gets injured a bit and doesn’t kick a lot of goals. He is not what Freo need.

Rubbish. Freo need a lot of things. McGovern is a tallish bloke who is quick on the lead, can leap, has a strong grab, good kick, can play both ends of the ground and who’s best footy is ahead of him. All clubs could use him

He is a 10 times better player than McCarthy who Freo apparently needed!
Like Tim Kelly, Liam Ryan and other WA mature age boys drafted elsewhere Gov Jnr was playing right under their noses in the WAFL but Fremantle didnt want a bar of him!

What about Ballas come on…

Anchor you probably know more abt Freo than I do but having watched Apeness and Taberner play for peel for a few years now they remind me a lot of lamb that was in WCER, show a lot but never quite make the grade, at best a c grader. Darcy is just a big boy and reminds me of a Ian McCulloch ruckman but that type of player is long gone. Scott Jones will only ever be a B grader fill in. As for Charlie McCarthy and the fella from GeeLong they do their best work somewhere other than on the football field.

I think that if Gaff goes to whomever that will leave a gap in the salary cap as he is not a 600k player yet and WC could do a three way swap with Gaff to x y to Crows and MM to WC!
