if reports are true, he has retired. Poor timing on his behalf if true, could have helped the Dockers target/secure a replacement thru free agency or trade period if decision was made early.
I think there will be a few supporters happy to see him go anyway.
he did play more than 200 AFL games to his credit.
He was considering hanging up the boots at the end of this season, had a change of heart, so signed a one year contract extension. With the past season being his best in a Freo guernsey, I think it was well deserved. But to take up the extension then pull the pin at this late stage, while overseas on holidays?! This will expose a big hole in the (much improved) defence. We all know family is number one but the bloke gave his commitment for 2013. Shame McPhee, shame.
I will be glad to see him go. Well overdue. Turnovers and mistakes were shocking. Old coaches looked after him though. Better around if Freo is to progress.
It will be his versatility and physical that will be sorely missed Cardy. May well see Silvagni take over the role. Interesting that Peter Faulks has been retained on the senior list. With a better run with injuries, these two players could more than cover the loss of Grover and McPhee. Faulks had a good year with Peel before his injury, don’t think he was really in Ross The Boss’ good books for some reason. Time will tell us what we want to know.
