Correct me if wrong, I think Wilson being one of the longest serving General Managers at the Royals? Yes, passing away last week and a sad loss to the Wafl.
I think Alex “Marbles” Wilson was GM at East Perth for the best part of 30 years (1984 to 2012, at a guess), WAG.
From memory, Marbles may have owned/managed a couple of taverns (the Blue Note Tavern and, perhaps the Mayfair, springs to mind) before going to Perth Oval.
Condolences to Marbles’ family and also to the family of John “Buzz” Parkinson on his recent passing.
Hey Duda thanks for reminding me of the Blue Note Tavern. Got absolutely pissed after a funeral, drove my SLR Torana to Western Car Radio, got on the piss with the boys, got home at 11.00 at night, I was a mess. My wife was at the door with my two beautiful little kids, they were worried, my wife threatened me, I never did it again.

Great story, Winger, and I’m glad that you got home to the good wife and kiddies in one piece rather than being the catalyst for another funeral.
I lived over east and lived/travelled overseas for much of the 1980s/1990s, so I don’t ever recall going to the Blue Note Tavern.
Mind you, being a two-pot screamer, there’s been plenty of watering holes that I don’t recall going to but that I actually did visit.
