Magpies Recruiting 2013

Port Adelaide Magpies are set to swoop on delisted Essendon player Henry Slattery and former Central District forward Andrew Hayes this week.

New Magpies coach Ken McGregor said his club had held positive talks with Slattery, who was let go by the Bombers last month after 96 games.

“You would be crazy not to try to do everything to get him across,” McGregor said of the former West Adelaide junior, who was selected by the Bombers at pick No. 46 at the 2004 AFL National Draft.

The Magpies are also in talks with fallen former Melbourne Demons player Liam Jurrah (see story page 3).

It is understood Hayes, who walked away from the Dogs last month, will land at Alberton.
