Any thoughts on the new Liberal and Nationals leaders?
No one could be any worse than Honey.
Yawn, yawn.
I reckon she’s got a bigger set than most of the blokes. Good luck to her we are crying out for a formidable opposition. I was disappointed to see Mia Davies quit politics. Liked her. Pity she isn’t a liberal her and Libby could have formed a formidable team even as a coalition at the next election.
Libby is a good choice, good luck to her.
Mettams sounds like she’s got some gumption to hopefully get rid of the dickheads that make up the “Clan”. This mob have done more to damage the WA Lib’s brand than anything else in it’s history.
Mia is my local member and a gun, was working the York polling place and talking to a labor Scrutineer who said he admired her and said she was one of the most capable and hardest working pollies in the game. But can understand her moving on as the thought of another 8 to 10 years in opposition would not be terribly attractive to such an intelligent capable individual.
Good luck to her. Democracy needs a credible alternative government. The situation we have in WA is not good at the moment.
Peter Collier has already come crawling with his tail between his legs apologising for his offensive remarks in the leaked Clan WhatsApp group chat. And she’s dumped right wing nut job Nick Goiran one of the Clan leaders. Stripped him of all his shadow portfolios. It’s got to be just about game over for David Honey who didn’t have the balls to do the same, in fact he defended them.
The real task ahead for Libby is attracting new blood that is voteable if that’s a word.
Spot on DD. I think she’s made a statement and started to clean out the deadwood. The task now as you say, is to attract new talent and have supporters and donors who left previously, come back into the fold.
There are a couple of issues for her and the Libs, firstly the general population who can vote needs to know what she is doing and although the west being what it is for the libs will make some noise will it be enough for the ‘exlib’ and currently swing voters to take any notice.
Secondly, she needs to be whining and whinging and be a credible opposition, one that offers alternatives rather than just berate the current government. Like or not the current lot the libs and nationals have not offered any credible alternate plans.
Lastly, they need to keep their distance from humpty dumpty and stay out federal issues unless there is a direct impact on WA!
Oppositions of all persuasions don’t need to come up with alternate plans and policies Grump until they start heading into an election. They just have to keep the government of the day accountable. Tony Abbott turned it into an art form and was one of the most effective leaders of the opposition in recent times notwithstanding he was a crap PM. Libby needs to keep taking aim at Dear Leader and the rabble in government and in my view, she has plenty of material to work with.
That is one view of the role of opposition, but I think that that underlies the woes of our governments today.
I expect that both sides of the process put forward credible policies, but that is perhaps my unrealistic expectation.
likely to be years of work and there aren’t many voices to use in sitting are there?
she’ll have to wait until near elections to get candidates , if there are any , honking and doing anything
the Nats have more clout now too
good luck bon voyage
Shane Love = David Honey 2.0
Nick Goiran has been put into the naughty corner lol ?. Secretly he’s probably hoping Libby gives him a spanking as well.

Im confident Libby is the person to do it and have agood crack next time around, all going well they will claim a lot of the heartland back , but won’t win but will set them up for another realistic chance, bit loss with Mia Davies leaving, the opposition eeds all the talent it can muster.
I’m fairly sure Sneakers is a few years away from grabbing is rolled gold pension and joining Ol Mate Wyatt on the Board of Woodside, that will open it up for the Libs a bit , Saffioti will probably take up the reigns.
