Leading Goal kickers

I was initially going to post this on the Perth thread but I’m sure supporters of all clubs will have a say but my point from a Perth supporter point of view is to highlight our biggest weakness.

When I was looking at the leading goal kicking tally in today’s West the two things that stood out for me was Perth had only one in the top 15 @ 15th with 20 goals who failed to kick a goal on Thursday night, Michael Bennell. But WP has an astonishing 4 players in the top 15. Andrew Strijk 28, Keegan Knot 24, Michael Lourey 21 and Tyler Keitel 20.

Next best is Subi with 3. South and Claremont only have one each but they are 1st and 3rd respectively. Perth football club you need to give others a go.

Spot on DD. That, along with our lack of a dominant ruckman is the reason we will go nowhere until we address those deficiencies.
Our list of leading goal scorers over the past 10 years is very barren and very embarrassing.

Yep changes have to be made Smokey. We can’t have blokes who don’t have an appetite for the contest. Matt Thompson and Marlin have been very consistent and Christian Martin came to the club looking for opportunities. I believe we’ve lost a real big marking target since Sam Garstone got injured even though he wasn’t in great form.

Last goal kicker we had was 1993 watisname ??? kicked 90 odd.
Then left the following season.
Our leading goal kicker is usually 20 odd.
Ande then only one of them.

Brenton Cooper DF.

More recent than that was Chris Maguire who kicked 70 odd from memory in 2004 then moved to Swans. Played at 5 different WAFL clubs I think. probably our most potent forward since then has been Mitch Morton and Kyle Reimers. Others that were recruits from outside were Jarred Kayler-Thompson, Josh Kruger and Travis Gasper.

Paul Bevan and Brennan Stack each kicked around 50 one season a few years back.

Brett Spinks in 97 kicked a few too from memory.

Once Garstone is fit and Marshall Jones is coming along well now plus Johnson who has been injured and now Martin recruited from Subi you have a good young tall attack that will be dangerous in time especially with your dangerous small forwards nipping away at their feet.

Bollenhagen winning the Ron Tucker the funniest.

Kane ransted kicked 50+ one year.
