Good call A/MAN!. Dont think the Cats will do much this year, finals yes, but not quite there yet. Defence with Lonergan and Harry and Mackie looking a bit tired and slow. I know what Dockers fans went through as i waited 44 years, from 1963 to 2007, along the way 5 GF’s loses. Happy to be the only AFL team that still has its original ground, AND a town that lives by the success of the footy team. Luckily have had probably 2 of the top ten players ever to play the game Polly and Ablett senior. Ablett senior best player i have seen. Always prepared to debate on the cats and hopefully fair in my views. I am hacked off with the umpiring this year, win/lose/home or away we “never” win a free kick count. We beat gold caost sune by a gazillion points at the cattery and still lose the free kck count. Still its a minor grump of mine. Predict 5th on ladder come years end.

Well done Unka. But how about we have a decent discussion about Geelong every week here.Let us here what you have to say about your club.
I agree that they had two of the greatest players of all time play there. But the best was Farmer, in my opinion.
I still think that TI,Stephen Michael was the best player I have seen.
I think the Cats will re-emerge again from this slump.I think they will beat the Neeshies this weekend down at the Cattery.

No probs A/man, i watch every Cat game every week so hapy to discuss. A disgrace of a performance v the bluws last week. Blues had 20 fit men from quartertime onwards and still out ran us. We were lazy and arrogant, and paid the price. In regards to Stephen Michael, he is a long time regret for mine, never saw him play a lot ( maybe a few state of origin), we ( cats) had him signed up on the old “form four” for year and years, but couldnt entice him to the cattery no matter what!. Its an interesting debate farmer/ablett, Farmer changed the game and was a great graet player, ablett never changed the game, BUT didnt really start at the cats until he was 23, could play anywhere ( well technically not the ruck), then at the end of his career ( 30 yrs plus) went to full forward and was as good as dunstall etc who had played there all of his life. Never trained “properly” only at a times a 85 to 90 % attitude yet was a freak. Tommy hafey who was a disciplinarian demanded Ablett do the presaon, Ablett rocked up when he wanted to, Hafey was hacked off ( as hafey would be) yet was frustrated as Ablett exceeded everyone in the excercise/pace/ and strenghth tests. I recall once the cats werent even sure he would play one week against Richmond, he rolled into the room just after 12:30 saying he would play, BUT had just devured a huge roast dinner. Suffice to sy he was B.O.G against the tiges.

Yeah no doubt Ablett could play, he was sensatioanl to watch. But as you said Farmer changed the way the game was played. He drew people to the game as well.I always had the feeling that initially the Vics wanted him to fail, but after he recovered from his knee injury I think they changed their attitude to him. Bobby Davis, the Geelong great always said was Farmer was the best ever.
So Unka how about giving a bit of a summary of how the Cats will go against the Neeshies this weekend in a post other than this one.

Any comments about those Dreadfull efforts against Collingwood and Carlton,Unka?

I could accept ONE grassy (the pies do have some good fooballers and a pretty damamging midfield), BUT 2 no just not on. Blokes like Mackie ( as an example) played with their head up theie ar$e, picking and choosing their momnets when they would go to a contest. Carlton only had 20 fit blokes, and had lost one of thier best. Papers blamed our bad kicking ( which was a disgrace), but it was purely lack of effort, players reading their press about being flag favourites. We didnt chase at all, cant do that these days. I never mind being beaten on talent, but cant hack being beaten on effort.
