Jack Watts.

According to the Herald Sun, Fremantle appear to be the front runners for Jack Watts signature.
I am thinking he could be a good pick up by the Dockers. He only needs a good coach to bring out his best football.I think most of his problems are in his head.He doesn’t think he is as good as he is or should be.
Any thoughts.

Do you have any evidence that his problems are in his head?

LOL very funny Terror.point taken.
No I don’t but I think he would be a good pick up by the club.

Agree Anchor, I reckon a good coach would bring out his best. The fact remains that he was taken by Melbourne ahead of Natanui and Rich so the guy must have something more than what he has shown so far

I agree Mike.He must have the ability to play at this level.Just need someone to make him believe in himself.
I remember he got a very very torrid reception when he first ran onto the ground playing Collingwood. They waited for him at the interchange bench and gave him heaps.Makes you wonder if it screwed with his mind.I would have thought it asa bonus in that they knew he could play and just wanted to test his mettle.
I don’t think Melbourne could ask all that much for him either.

Fingers crossed he is better than the last Jack you got out of a Melbourne team.
(He should be)

Hannath!!!

ahhh, touche

Of course we await with interest who else Freo are going to be recruiting according to the wise journalists. Amongst Freo’s recruits will be Franklin, Watts, Taylor. Any others?

Isn’t Naitanui going to be moving to Freo next year as well?

By all reports Watts wants to be traded at the end of this year. If Freo got him at a reasonable price, I think he is worth a punt to learn under a very astute coach in Lyon.

As someone said the other day when I was talking to him,Watts is doing a rehearsal for Lyon this week to see what he is worth.

Audition: Failed

I am not really sure his heart is in it Johnno.I think Melbourne keep playing him to keep his price up.
I think there will be a few jumps ship from the Dees seasons end.
I wonder if the Dockers would make a play for James Frawley. He would be handy down back I reckon.
I got a sneaking suspicion that if Neeld goes before the end of the season that they may make Jade Rawlings the care taker coach.
They certainly are a basket case. How long does Neeld have in the job!!He will be gone soon I think.

Yeh he looks a bit soft to me a/man. Whether Ross Lyon could change that aspect of his game I’m not sure. He’s got some good foot and hand skills but it was my first look at him in the flesh and he lacks a bit of height and size to be a key forward. He looked about the same height as Michael Johnson who he played on most of the day.

On Melbourne, I reckon they need an experienced coach at least for a couple of years to develop these kids, a new untried coach has the burden of having to prove himself whereas a senior experienced coach already has the runs on the board and doesn’t feel the need to justify his job. I’m thinking a guy like Rodney Eade for a couple of years, Paul Roos would be a fantastic get but I doubt he would be interested.

Though Eade had said he would never say never in regards to coaching again I don’t think he would take on the Dees.
I think that it will depend on who they employ as coach as to whether some stay or go.But I think that regardless Watts will go.

Perhaps G Lyon should volunteer his services to be the coach of Melbourne.

With respect to Jack Watts a good jockey on a slow horse won’t win the race no matter how good they are. Given the situation Melbourne is in it is difficult to see how any player could develop under those circumstances.

Swan I think that one G Lyon is responsible or partly responsible for the schmozzle that is happening at Melbourne right now.He helped appoint Neeld. He lured back Connolly and Schwab.
I think G Lyon has done enough damage to the club.

Perhaps you didn’t quite get my tongue in cheek comment. Certainly unlike Tim Watson etc G Lyon has been paricularly vocal without putting himself in the firing line.
