Pretty ordinary act from someone on the verge of shield cricket - I wonder if this costs him a WACA contract for next year or pushes him to a rookie contract - silly this is the action would have only caused minor issues to the Pitch and his club won that game so easily
WA-contracted youngster Sam Fanning cops lengthy ban after incident in WA Premier Cricket first-grade final | The West Australian
Thoughts anyone
anyone who deliberately damages a playing surface with the intent of affecting the opposition should be rubbed out for a calendar year full stop
it doesn’t really surprise given he comes from NSW it just gives further proof of what their system really is and this kid will have picked up some of their shit along his way
Not a good look at all…especially for a WACA contracted player who played First Class Cricket this season.
Very lucky to get only 4 games suspension!
just been reading Murray Goodwin got 16 weeks for hitting the opposition wicketkeeper with his bat - absolutely no doubt the keeper gave him a lip service sledge as he went past but given his experience it wasn’t going to end well and didn’t
the footage looked disastrous really

Well let’s just hope any up n coming test aspiring WA tyro doesn’t bend over like Bancroft did during the sandpaper saga. Yes coercion from the NSW cartel didn’t help, but geez surely the WA system wants to be known for producing players who can differentiate between right and wrong, and have the kahuna’s to tell those more experienced team mates to go forth and multiply, when asked to do something so blatantly dodgy.

TBH it may all be well and good to point the finger at the dodgy NSW development system in regards to dodgy on field deeds. But I would like to think the WA development program produces players with the moral compass & intellect to differentiate between right and wrong, and the kahuna’s to tell those around them, regardless of the coercion, to go forth and multiply, when asked to do something so blatantly dodgy and dumb.
Sadly WA’s Bancroft bent over, way too easy, for the dodgy NSW playing cartel. Hopefully never ever to be repeated.
Murray Goodwin’s recent actions, is also not a good look for WA cricket, especially one with his cricketing pedigree…though admittedly Goodwin didn’t come through the WA development program back in the day, so perhaps nothing to do with WA cricket, for that brain fade by the ex WA champ…though aren’t the family of a strong Christian faith?..seem to remember young Jayden having a break from cricket, to do some missionary work back in Zimbabwe a few years back.
Fanning will be gone if it happens again. One should remember ‘the laws of cricket’, always.
