How are wafl crowds calculated?

I was at the WACA. Looked much smaller. Around 400.

is it everyone who goes through the gates that day? That might explain it.

That’s a damn good question JL
On many occasions there is a huge discrepancy in the numbers. Happens too regularly.
For example take the last round of the leederville match. 1661 is the official figure. I heard from a reliable source the attendance was far lower than that at approx 600. It beggars belief a more accurate attendance cannot be measured in our ‘so called modern day and age’.

fantasy guess work

Problem is the include everyone from the start of the day to the end. People leave once colts and reserves finish.

I was told that one game recently had around 200 during the league game.

As noted above the attendances are a lot worse than recorded.

we’ve taken a large hit to our supporter base , particularly the past 3 or 4 years , old mate Reaper has called a fair few of us
but without doubt the two VFL entities have seen a big decline in already troubled attendances
and that is despite the continual bleatings from both camps claiming falsely that attendances would surge to incredibly lovely numbers if they were admitted into the WAFL
the glaring actual fact is that no-one attends WCE matches and attendances in Mandurah are at an all time low , in fact more people attend their various local Peel League games along with the other fact that there are far more WCE supporters in Mandurah than Cockburn

Quite staggering that two traditional teams with a proud history could only amass an estimated 350 attendance between East Perth and South Fremantle at Leederville Oval.

Some fair weather supporters amongst those two teams. The Peel v WCER drew a bigger crowd. Lol

Yet a club that constantly attracts trash talk about our finals record continues to attract decent crowds. We must all be dreamers.

You are in terrific posting form

The Royals supporter base collapsed under the weight of alignments. Obviously there are thousands if not tens of thousands of followers that take a passing interest in them still. But your hard core base that attends home and away would be down to 50-100.

Isnt the top post in this topic the actual crowd numbers for last weekend?
I am not sure where people are getting these approx 350 crowd numbers from?
Surely not that joke of a paper The West?
The dingbats “ghost writing” their WAFL game summaries for that rag dont even attend the games, the crowd figures for Swans games have been a mile out each week so far, all well under the official figure!

Decent crowds..you mean like the 400 that turned up to watch you and your future controllers Wet Toast…dreamers more like bullshitters…

I was at a Fremantle Derby last year where easily 6000 showed up , more , yet the official was at barely 3500 or so

DD - you’d be hard pressed to make anyone believe Mandurah drew bigger crowds than anyone else

I think a few people jumped the gun this season. The first 2 or 3 weeks saw good Wafl attendances. It all started out being promising. Sadly the crowd numbers dropped right away up to this point.
Be interesting to see if the numbers pick up after the state game.

At least I was there mate, can you say the same?

Games against wet toast always draw crowds around 500. No reserves or colts games.

Have always been sceptical about the crowd estimates at Peelmantle games Southy but maybe they support their colts and reserves games better than most others.

Bare fact is that Mandurah do not attract crowds - and especially away fixtures
The biggest problem with that alignment is the equally bare fact that WCE have an enormous following in Mandurah hence the poor attendance
300 is accurate , you see more at the Netball courts opposite that oval

Pull the other one - Perths total attendances each season are like their overall performances, always towards the bottom and have been for decades..

Take away your Fremantle derbies and I’d say we outnumber you on average attendances pal which is damn good considering, as you point out our ladder position. Were you at Leederville to watch your dearly beloved team or you were absent because you thought your season was doomed as you kept saying up until when they knocked off East Perth??

This is how crowd size used to be calculated back in the day.Count all fee paying customers. Then double it at the end for all the freeloaders who get in and add 6 for the margin of error. Maybe then take 20 off for when you clicked the counter twice by mistake. And then put an approx. in front of it just so everyone knows you’ve got no friggin idea what the real number is

Take away the attendance of real life people that actually turn up…yeah that makes a lot of sense, Perth way of thinking I guess, clutch at straws, not my fault your hopeless mob have no feature games.
