Have Freo found their Mojo?

Geez, season on the line and Freo didn’t fire a shot. The worrying thing for them is that they have been soundly beaten at Optus Stadium on a number of occasions this year by teams who are not really flag contenders, add another one yesterday.
JL appears to be saying the same thing every week about lack of connection and submissive footy but he is the coach and appears powerless to do anything about it.
Collingwood are ready to tear them a new one at the MCG next week. This may not be pretty.

So Stewy Dew is sacked by GC, GC sit above Freo via %, Freo were strongly tipped to finish high in the 8, GC were not, what does that say about JL’s future?

The difference is that JL is in his 4th year, Dew was in his sixth with no finals. Dockers had an excellent season last year when they finished 5th. My feeling is he will get at least another year to turn things around.
Gold Coast treated Dew appallingly when someone in the club leaked to the press while the club heirarchy publically supported him. Who would want to coach this rabble of a club?

ah Gillon’s lovechild
Gold Coast
a sporting graveyard
a place where Australians are outnumbered 10 to 1 minimum
where even Rugby doesn’t to get a full crowd to games
funny that Gillon didn’t demand a new stadium on the Gold Coast
no wonder there’s nothing for grass root state football with stinking shit like that

Yep very disappointing season by Freo, the signs were there early for me, bad ones. Players getting ahead of themselves before a ball was bounced believing all the hype. I didn’t like Pearce as captain, looks like too much of a laid-back kind of dude and I don’t like captains with man buns. Step down Alex and let Andy take the reigns.

Need to bolster the midfield, I can’t work out why Will Brodie got dropped and hasn’t been able to find his way back in. .

Is it just me or do others think our midfield is slow compared to others?

That is the problem with football these days. Everyone thinks they need more pace when in fact we should be going the other way. Football today is becoming unwatchable for me. I can barely watch even a mini match from start to finish. The game is played at helter skelter pace, it is chaotic and that is the reason why there are so many injuries and incidental head contacts.

The AFL try to make out as though they are the good guys trying to stamp out head high contact with harsh penalties but what they should be trying to do is actually slow the game down and force players to stay in their positions instead of what we see today which is 36 players in not just one half of the ground but sometimes one third of the ground. It is just crazy.

What do you hear coaches screaming at players all the time? Push up, push up! FFS how about stay in your position and make your opponent accountable?

Going down like 9 pins now. Just switched the telly on on Kayo . Getting slaughtered by Collingwood then Darcy hobbles off favouring his strapped leg so now his good knee is stuffed then just a couple of minutes later Brandon Walker is in agony holding his right knee. Taken off on a stretcher but hopefully just a dislocated knee cap as the commentators seem to think it is.

DD while the injuries are a disappointment, it means little to Freo, they were just about gone before this game and certainly mothballs after it. I’m no real fan of either WA, AFL team but Freo have so far escaped the hail of criticism that WC have copped. WC’s extreme injury run has a fair bit to do with where they are at, not all but a fair bit, where as Freo were touted as likely top 4. The fact they are where they are shows that something is not right with the coach and his panel and/or whats happening between the players ears. Their season has turned out to be diabolical. I would think that Freo fans would be far more disappointed than WC fans.

Another season another same ol same ol dud from the shockers.

Yes both AFL teams can start planning their end of season trips for early September. Good that it will leave some semblance of clear air for the WAFL finals.

Gee imagine if the WAFC brushed the cobwebs off their WAFL marketing purse and promoted the WAFL as the “only game in town” … nah your dreamin’ The commissioners will all be planning their trips to the AFL prelim and grand final. Cant let the WAFL finals get in the way of that!!

Ok I’ve slipped the boots into Pearce this year but seems like that was a great performance by him keeping Hawkins to 2 goals and then keeping Cameron quiet late.

Encouraging signs of what Fremantle can do but where has that kind of performance and effort been hiding? Need to finish off the year with more of that and use it as a springboard for 2024.
