Gutsy and great win

A gutsy fighting win by the Dockers today. Beating the Pies at a ground the Pies seldom leave, or lose at.
Beating the team on top and according to the Melbourne , never get beaten in tight games.
Serong, sensational. Voss, incredible performance.
Darcy Jackson combo, another win.
The backs held firm all day, seldom giving the Pies time or space to tear the Dockers apart.
The big three up forward worked well today. Treacy and Amiss clearing space for Voss to do his thing.
The entry of Young proved a bonus, using his big body and his foot skill to great effect.
Though some did not star, when called upon, they did what they had to do.
Most of all, as a team, they held their nerve and played their brand of footy.
They now need to build in that performance and not lose any games they should win. After today, they should not be afraid of any team they play from here in.
Great win fellas.

Without doubt the most significant win for the Dockers in the Longmuir era. To come back from 22 points down to win in a hostile environment was a great achievement by the team. The only downer was what looked like a significant injury to Johnson in the final quarter. Dockers have now beaten 6 of the 8 teams they are competing with for finals spots. They havent actually played Brisbane yet.
Conversely they have dropped games to teams like St Kilda and Sydney so they must make sure that they bury West Coast next week to continue their push for a potential top 4 spot

They have to win 4 of next 5 to guarantee finals. 3 from 5 could still see them miss.

The next 3 games are against Eagles, Carlton and Port Adelaide who are all out of contention. Win those and they are on 15 wins, more than enough for top 8 and they will be pushing for top 4

There is no reason why they don’t win them all.
As long as they keep winning, then there is no problem. Two games games clear of ninth, .
As Mike said, win the next three which is the way I see the results going , makes it a clear we play finals, just a case of where. Maybe surprise many nay sayers.

Funny how things go. The plan by Collingwood to keep the game flowing, where the player takes the oppo to ground yet only puts his arms out , trying to get the player to just lay there and get caught HTB or push it out.The Media loved it,
I remember seeing Alex Pearce do exactly the same thing twice in a game at Perth stadium. Both times winning frees.
When Pearce did it, the knowledgable Melbourne media ,especailly the Fox crew commented, what a strange thing to do.
I guess these thing are new ideas only thought of by the knowledgable East Coast coaches.
And on that topic, I wonder where the naysayers for Longmuir saying he has been out coached, are now.
After, what is it 8 wins out of nine games, and against the “Better” smarter coaches, will any of the nay sayers, come out and say that Longmuir out coached them!!!

Any comment on the late contact on Treacy by Moore!
Did he slide or did he drop the knees!
No sanction from the MRO.

Just watched On the Couch and Buckley was lauding the not tackle approach from the Pies. I wish they would say that it was learnt from watching Alex Pearce earlier in the season.
I wrote about this in one of my previous post on this topic.

They were never going to sanction Moore. The 50 metre penalty was enough of a punishment given how little time was left in the game. I was just hoping that one of the Dockers players didn’t clock him and get the kick reversed, which is what Moore may have been hoping for. Thankfully they were more mature than that

Serong and Ryan were quick in there to get in the players ear. It was good to see the players looking after their own, but…
I fully expected at the minimum a fine.

Great to hear the report on Matt Johnson afther his horrid looking ankle roll on Saturday.
No ankle should ever go into that position.
Watching it, I thought it was seasons end for Johnno.

Also on the injury front, great to see that young Cooper Simpson is back and ready to roll either at Peel or in the Purple. He had two very good games on return to the side before having his shoulder smashed.A classy skilled and cool player.
