Huge loss for swannies with Jetta leaving. For me this is easily our biggest loss for 2015 and I suppose at some point players decide they have had enough, but geez I would have thought he had a few more years left in him. You are a long time retired. Plenty of years left in your 30’s to go back to Bunbury and play with family and mates. He was a joy to watch in tight spaces in defence and in some ways I reckon if he’d got into the system at a very young age he would have been better than Lewis at afl level. A different body type but he embraced the physical side which i think is a weakness in his brothers game.
Anyway i was a bit surprised to see most pundits had swannies finishing bottom three in today’s west but on inspection our losses have been fairly substantial whilst our gains have been minimal. At the same time some of the other clubs look to have recruited well, especially Souths and West Perth, and I don’t expect Claremont to have another poor year. They seem to be a factory. Still, we were written off last year as well and we were pretty good.
Goodie based on what Peel offered in the scratch matches the previous week end it is remarkable that the supposed experts didn’t put Peel last in their guesses.
Like last year we will need to get some early wins for our confidence; but rest assured, as we have done previously, we will provide the opportunities to our younger players to play league.
Agreed on Jetta. Work commitments added to his decision, a lot of night shifts which restricted him from training. Hasn’t ruled out a return next year.
And I’ll miss watching him grab the ball - run in a straight line, then when in the clear decide to do a 360 and run in an opposite direction into trouble, then have to fire out a handball to nowhere when he gets tackled.
