After 16 years wearing the Purple of Fremantle FC, Nat Fyfe has decided to call it quits.
Aplayer that had his many ups, and also plenty of downs , injury wise.
Sadly, all the injuries have taken a toll on his body.He has done an amazing job in being able to get his body back to the place where he can now still be considered among Fremantles best 23.
What a player he has been. A skinny raw kid , taken from the Claremont colts after some outstanding performances.
That skinny kid developed quicky into a strongly built young man that took the AFL world by storm.
We all know of his achievements, Brownlows, AAs, etc, All seemingly done with a minimum of fuss.
A spring heeled Jack that could fly from behind and take pack marks.Sadly, broke legs took that ability away from him.
But a brute around the ball, there were not many any tougher or stronger. When he was on, there was no one to stop him.
With Fremantle still in the hunt for finals, he is still planning on playing as many games as he can with that dream of winning the premiership.
He, Pavlich and Mundy will always be talked about when the discussion about who was the better of the three in years to come, but regardless all three could claim that honour.
I guess it will always be a talking point, even long after Fyfes career is over. And I am sure there will be some firie talks on the subject.
But, well played Fyfey, and thanks for the great memories and your dead set love of the FFC.

Well said Anchor. Fyfe has bought a lot of joy to Freo supporters, but as you said the leg injuries took a lot away from him. I love that he didn’t retire midseason. People will say that he’s doing it for himself but to actually keep going and setting the example of training through adversity, sets a wonderful example to his teammates.
5 more games for Fyfey for a premiership and his 250th.
