Wow
We almost “Snatched Defeat from the jaws of Victory”
But no we held on and took what was a very palpable, exciting, frustrating, auxilorating,
‘my god what are you doing",“great play”, “no-no-no aaarrggghh”, “woohoo you beauty” - just about every other cliche deserved of a game of footy’
I think you can almost always depend on a great game of football when the Black n White plays the Red n Blues…
Our player injuries will be telling for the week to come with rehab being highly important to continuing our improved form.
The WEEK ahead: Never underestimate a foe when they have nothing to lose and are scrambling from the bottom of the cup
Our Team (after cleaning up disposals & decision making over 4 Qtrs) have to ability to show a clean set of heals to all on the WAFL ladder as we are getting stronger, bonding as a TEAM and beginning to have belief in themselves.
Perth can show great courage in Qtrs and ‘take it’ to opposition teams who either underestimate them or fail to cover quality players respectfully, sadly Perth have a recipe to stall and find it difficult to shake off this unforgiving intrusion into their team mindset.
I see a win for us but not before a good contest from a team on the run from wooden spoon stigma and for a greater improved display to their valiant and stalwart supporters.
Wasn’t a great standard game (too many basic errors from both teams) but the closeness of the scores kept it interesting. As I said on the Swans thread, your guys did well to hold us out given that it was a hot day and WP had a few less rotation options due to injury. Look forward to the rematch at Bassendean later in the year.
Impressive looking members stand being constructed at the ground. Will that be finished before seasons end or are they looking at 2018?
As for the members stand/bar/gym/function rooms, I’m thinking 2018.
Working well on the entire area rebuild but cant see it officially opening much earlier.
Personally cant wait for the club to have their own bar and premises to welcome all supporters- the current arrangement is a disgrace and the lack of hospitality/the prices and variety of beverage on offer is a embarresing.
Hopefully the new premises will also bring back many of the WP supporters who I have noted have lessened since or GF win in 13 - not sure why this is so?
I would guess the SD supporters on the day matched or possibly even tipped in their favor numbers wise
A credit to the SD club and a little sad for the WP club … lets hope as the season progresses numbers will increase
Unsure of the official attendance?
I haven’t seen an official attendance yet Barista, but it was reported on the paper as 1800 which would be close I reckon.
I wouldn’t be too hard on your club either. The declining attendances at games is a WAFL malaise generally which has been consistent at all venues over the past couple of years.
Having said that,it was disappointing to see the empty seats in the Whinnen Dempsey stand and there certainly wasn’t the level of noise and atmosphere that I had experienced there in previous years. HBF is an excellent venue for WAFL footy, the grass banks are perfect for getting a good view of the game.
The only encouraging thing was that there seemed to be lots of young families there with kids in the 5- 10 age range and we can only hope that some of them come back regularly.
Will WP be inviting opposition members/spectators in to their stand/bar in future all will the same level of hospitality currently being extended remain? By the way the first time I’ve come across a Chicken Treat stand/caravan that didn’t sell actual chicken…whats with that???

So what was it flogging Dirty Weekender?

Nuggets, fake chicken fillet burgers and fries…thoroughly disappointing after the excellent food available in recent years at Joondy…the old hot food caravan which used to be situated where the new stand is being built was the best tucker available across all WAFL venues…sadly no more
Sadly Keegan became a Steve P second option. Right or wrong that became a little hard for him and difficult to break into the seniors. Also an hours drive to the ground had him questioning his reasons if a spot was not going to be offered by his ability??
He’s playing in the country I believe … the absolute best of luck to him - I enjoyed his enthusiasm and talent.. a sad loss
Fucking livid about the cheap dog that kneed Kody in the arse 100m off the ball to suffer a severe cork for almost half a game, he will probably miss this week now
