Finals build up
Yep pleased as punch SF are playing Peel and not EF Roman, but then pretty sure the Cl and WP boys would be thinking the same…

Bease saw Fisher kick that 1st goal, watched a bit more, then wandered off and then came back in the 2nd to watch some more and so forth throughout the match…just assumed Fisher like a few other SD boys just vanished as the scoreline got worse…do think Turner and Clarke are class acts…WCE wouldn’t be doing anything wrong looking at both those boys next year TBH…

I hope Peelmantle go all the way if they beat us this week.
Hopefully both Collingwood and South get up. As a Carlton and East Freo supporter don’t often say that!
I’m fairly confident in saying the dorkers season will end this weekend at the MCG.

South are a chance - but I’m not getting excited.

I can’t see any changes happening to the Dockers line up against the Pies so Peel should go in with a similar team to last weekend with the exception of Tucker. A big ask for South Freo but hopefully at home they can get it done.

Wouldn’t expect anything less from you Roman hoping Peelmantle go all the way in the WAFL finals when…I mean…if they roll SF on Sunday…looks like Collingwood could be EF or Cl best chance of taming the Peelmantle beast…still think SF are the best chance, out of WP, EF and Cl, to roll an AFL laden Peelmantle..considering SF are playing at home, SF have no excuses TBH for not beating Peel…

Oh really! We are playing an AFL side. No excuses for your mob in not beating the college boys at rubbish tip park after you beat them easily at chardonnay park a couple of weeks ago.

I’ll keep going . . . . why in the frigg are the SF ressies playing on Saturday at EF Oval and Subi v SD ressies match is played at Freo oval at 9.30am???

Any chance of keeping 1 club’s finals sides playing at 1 ground on the same fucking day???

Because the college boys finished ahead of us and their league side is playing there doggy.

Totally agree Roman…EF will definitely go in favourites v Cl, especially after the last game between the two sides…seems like I am as confident as you with our respective sides chances of winning this weekend…Freo oval is a bit of a concrete fortress for SF from memory…SF for me by 20 pts.

No excuses … nice one champ.

Whilst on the finals topic, the WAFL competition seems to be ranked 3rd in importance with AFLW Eagles having priority viewing with Channel Eagle/7 and WAFC hence the scheduling of the elimination final for 12:10pm Sunday so the women’s AFLW game can have prime time viewing later in the afternoon.
So our 150 year old comp is dumbed down again to accommodate big corporations all about making money out of sport. Very disappointing but I guess that’s the reality for the present and future.
So many country footy teams have folded in the last decade…….that’s another conversation.

Yep don’t think much will change when Nine takes over the rights in 2025. The ABC was the best
same time each week without non-stop ads.

Claremont finished higher on the ladder and are the home team, so they are playing ahead of their league team. The WAFL also play the qualifying finals the day before the elimination finals (wherever possible) in order to provide the higher ranked team with an extra day’s break leading into a 1st semi final the following week.

Bazza, SF are playing at home, they won a COVID flag there a few years back…they have the best side on paper out of all the WAFL sides, to match an AFL laden Peelmantle…lets hope SF do the business like they should…be a big let down if they don’t.

That is exactly the case.

AFLW was always hgoingt to be a huge threat to WAFL, both in a drain on sponsorship/ financial resources crowds and media coverage, I tried to warn people about this earlier but it is now more than obvious given the AFL has moved it time wise to effectively be in dire3ct comp with the WAFL finals.

AFLW is a complete dud but will be pushed under massive co-orperate support to a luck warm public.

As I have said no more than ever the WAFL needs a complete overhaul and rethink, and that means moving the season to an earlier start to avoid what will now be a fixturing and media disaster.

Nice to see a bit of argy bargy between the Sharks and Doggies supporters leading up to the finals. Would be very dull without this given the ozfooty supporters from Swans, Subiaco, East Perth and Perth are all just onlookers and there is really nothing coming from the other 3 teams in the finals.
One can only hope that there is a derby sometime in the finals series, would be a dream promotion for the WAFC. One more time to pack out Shark Park before the builders come in.

Have not heard anything confirmed re 9/Stan staking over AFL. Deal currently being decided.

However, Its almost certain WAFL will get taken off FTA all together as move to 100% live stream only.

Seven Foxtel keep AFL rights - just announced.

Crappy thing about new deal is fewr Saturday games which are all being moved to Thursday nights, 15 weeks straight now of Thursday nights, not much else changes WA wise everything else stay the same. dockers and eagles live free to air.

TV may like Thursday night footy but actual crowds at the ground don’t seem to. I went to a few Thursday night games mid season at the Gee and one game attracted just 20K. The other game was Carlton and Richmond and managed to draw 50 K - but imagine if they put those two on at 2pm Saturday. Crowds at grounds don’t seem the priority.

Footy is a weekend caper.

Ch 7 have less and less material to air on Free to Air, so want more live sport.
