I went into todays game with few grandiose expectations, with a few Covid withdrawals, most notably Ramsay, and a game played on a less than ideal surface, against a battling side with nothing to lose,so it loomed as a possible danger game.I also fail to recall awaiting a players Debut with such little expectations as i did with ex Shark Nicholas Bonomelli;and why would i when you looked at his stats, but from the moment he took a sliding mark, where he missed an easy set shot,he never ceased to amaze, and he probably should have kicked 6,in the best debut ive seen since Chris Judd donned the black and blue in his one and only match, which is mind boggling as he wasn’t deemed as enough compensation for the swap with Eddie, which was why Cam Davidson was thrown in the deal as well,so today was a pleasant shock!!
[quote=“Freezin post=220878 userid=945”]Well done to Bonomelli on his 4 goal EP debut…hopefully the young fella can keep it going…

Well Freezin maybe the boy just lacked confidence, as he certainly showed he has some ability, and the east perth board needs to take a leaf out of your club, who backed in Buffalo Bill last year when he was under pressure, and look how well your club is going now with the stability of that decision, and i heard our board would be conducting a review in the coming weeks, which is an absolute waste of time,as blind freddy can see we are heading in the right direction,so EPFC BOARD give your club legend Barney the 3 year extension he deserves !!!
[quote=“ROYAL 2019 post=220879 userid=1454”]My mail was off and a great debut. It was only against a battler club but very nice hands. Look forward to another win next week.

We were all pleasantly surprised today Royal, and i think Covid at this stage are our only danger.
Indeed, a great debut by Nic Bonomelli and the boys certainly got around him when he kicked his first goal for the club.
With five goals, Tom Medhat certainly showed today why he’s been consistently our best forward in 2022.
Our first half of the final quarter was breathtaking footy.
However, we can’t afford to go to sleep against better teams as we did for the first 15 minutes of both the second and third quarters.
Perhaps I’m an unnecessarily hard marker, but one thing that did concern me on a few occasions was Perth’s ability to clear the ball unopposed from defence into their attacking 50.
It’s the first time we’ve won three in a row under Jeremy Barnard and let’s hope we can add a good few more wins to that sequence.

We are still a work in progress. The last couple of weeks we have dominated in the midfield and inside fifties and should have won by more.Last week we couldn’t hit targets inside our forward line and this week our kicking for goal was poor.We are missing a quick small forward to lock the ball in our forward line.Medhat has definitely been an upgrade on Merrett/Dobbo.Bono looks very athletic compared to Eddie and hopefully not a flash in the pan performance. The last ten minutes was very dissapointing giving up three goals basically thru Perth creating goals from their backline. and not enough pressure from our forwardsWinning will only get harder as we play better teams in the last six weeks and covid-19 is the elephant in the room for all teams.

Bonomelli had left the EFFC and Davidson had not been sighted for quite some time either. I think they will be happy to receive a 50 game player for 2 players that had already walked away.
Yep- for whatever reason- Bonomelli never fired at EF and it was in his best interests to try his luck elsewhere. He always had talent. Hopefully EP see the best of him- just wasn’t to be at the Sharks. As for Simpson, I’m not sure he’ll be playing League anything soon with how they’re playing. He’s certainly not pushing Jansen, Marsh and co out. From the outer, he seems like an insurance policy to me but we’ll see.

Yes i don’t see Eddie as anything but an insurance policy for your forward line which is firing and has O’Reilly on the sidelines as well, but he can on a good day take a good grab and is a very good shot on goal.As for Bonnomelli i noticed he came out of your colt system in 2016 yet until this season only amassed 7 senior games and 4 goals in a period your club wasn’t travelling so well, which is why i was so shocked by his performance, and he definitely possess’s his fair share of athleticism on what i saw today, and it seems strange to me he was so out of favour.

Do you honestly think Perth will beat Peel.Peel have a better percentage then us. and beating Perth should be a percentage booster for Peel.So even if we beat Swans we need Perth to win.So i am positive we won’t be in the five.Of course if covid goes thru Peel maybe Perth win and if we beat Swans by at least twenty goals.
Interesting that Bonomelli kicked 4 in 5 games for Carey Park in the SW league…and comes out and kicks 4 v Perth in one game of the WAFL…either that’s a reflection of where Perth are right now…or big Nic had been saving himself since 2017 apparently, for this big day out…hopefully it’s not a one off…

i think our delivery to our forwards was the best we have had in several weeks. Not only Nick but Medhat benefitted from it

Well i don’t know if you’ve noticed, which wouldn’t surprise me,Perth have already defeated Peel in Mandurah earlier in the season, and if Covid does go through Peel and they lose, why do we have to defeat Swans by 20 goals when we’re on the same number of points???

I don’t know Freezin,i backed Rogan Josh 20 odd years ago when he got beaten in the Pinjarra Cup,before he went on win the Melbourne Cup,so go figure???but i’m quietly confident this wasn’t a one off performance from ‘‘The Bonn’’
Good test for the young fella v the SD defence next week…Notte especially… perhaps Rogan Josh like “The Bonn” performs better on the city track then on a country track ?
