Daniel Chick unloads on West Coast

This is Daniel Chicks response to last nights Footy show segment on West Coast’s 2006 premiership. I never watch the footy show but it appears that Nisbett and Embley amongst others were interviewed.

Chick is obviously not in a great space at the moment and the article needs to be seen in that context but some of his comments are very pointed and bitter and yet again brings into focus the culture that existed at the Eagles in the mid 2000’s

I didn’t or don’t watch the footy show, but that read sure is an eye opener.
Maybe Chick is in a bad place right now, but I do believe there is a mountain of truth in what he has said.
Trade the premiers ship to have the boys all well again Nissy!!! Yeah right. Why didn’t you and the whole club do some thing about it when you knew what was going on. Every one in WA knew, the press knew. But it seems that it was far easier to handle the biased press here in WA than face the truth.
I have never been a fan of Chick, but I do believe what he has said is the truth.
The club let the players, the supporters, the club itself , and even worse it let WA football down.
would be interesting to see a public enquiry about it all.
Yep, a long time ago, but some people are still suffering because of the clubs inability to handle what was going on.
I bet this brings some more stories out into the open. Nissy and Dalton will be smirking and smiling and giving platitudes to Chicky about how they do, and did care.Yeah right.
Maybe Mark Duffield will get a story going about this. His article, when it broke about the drugs, was more than interesting,More than interesting about the players and the culture of cover ups from the club.
Was a great read.

The thing is A/M Chick sounds like he’s still high now, I reckon its just a rant by a druggie and they often blame everyone one else for their problems. I don’t know why this has all been rehashed now tbh they still deserved the Premiership.

Sounds like the past players group are a happy bunch at West Coke Eagles…lol

Well they won it PN.
He has said nothing here that a lot of people have heard before. The club let almost everybody down by their attitude.
If the club didn’t want to drag it into the limelight again, all they had to do was not do the interviews.

Only one with the guts to spill the beans for mine, this remains one of the most controversial premierships in recent AFL history, more than obvious that the club did as much cover up at the time as they could and still are, the local media supports them in that. Your never going to get past local 2 team town mentality, Cousins and Co remained protected and idolised for years. Some still refuse to accept the truth.
I almost feel over laughing at Nesbitts comments about he would swap tbe flag for them being well, give me a break…nothing of the sort at them time…

Embley and the fake corporate machine can smile and pretend its all good , but its thinly veiled, plenty know the truth including them and its damned ugly.

Controversial in what way, surely your not saying illicit drugs helped them win the cup because that’s hogwash none of those players ever tested positive on game day and they aren’t performance enhancing anyway.

The AFL should take the ultimate blame, they’ve been covering up these sorts of messes since the AFL was formed, how many Collingwood players tested positive to illicit drugs this year and they were the only ones named plenty of players from other clubs were tested positive as well.

I was rooting for WC that day, beating a team who only are where day are due to the extra million in their cap.

And who was the club that signed up this druggie and his flatliner mate after his WCE partying days were over? …perfect fit really!

Someone refresh my memory, didn’t Chicky pull a stunt on the eve of last year’s GF? Trying to smear the Eagles in the week leading up to the GF? He’s clearly got some issues whether it’s drug related or something else. I think he suffered a marriage break down not long after he retired. I remember seeing him and his wife (at the time) looking at display homes up Mindarie way several years ago.

From memory his wife was American and I think a brother or sister was in the twin towers when they went down.

Could call it a calculated move on his part to wreak a bit of damage

if he really had balls he’d be hanging the supplier(s) within the team out to dry…ohhhhh hang on a minute!!!

out looking for new jobs since govt funding cuts I’d presume…agree with you on this one regarding the fingerless one. Speaking in riddles is a sure sign he’s still off chops.

We’re the players having their own reunion sometime soon?

Oh to be a fly on the wall.

The fact that Nesbitt is still in the main chair at wce epitomises the scandalous nepotism, cover ups and power of the corporate monster the wce wields in this town, for Nesbitt to come out this week and say he would hand back the premiership for the and I quote losely " welfare" Of past players is not just disingenuous and deceitful given the way he and the wce operated in 2005 2006 but completely worthless as we all know its something he or the club will never have to do or would do. Regardless it makes great sympathetic copy for the in house media machine 7 west.

Boy,was the Silence Deafening on PR about this, between 10 and 11.30?!

Move along please, nothing to see here.

I think the reunion is coming up soon. Chick and Cousins are the only two who have not RSVP’ed apparently.

Theve been doing that since 2001, always remember a sports scientist rang in one Saturday morning with some early observations of the likes of Benny Boy that was about 2005, he was cut off in record time…dump button!
