Common Sense is making a comeback

Just as i thought,a minor misdemeanour and a 2k fine is all that we deserved, with no premiership or player point cap deductions.

AFL was on your side otherwise penalty could have been much higher. Welcome to the Perth Football Club Mr Randall.

The East Perth Football Club has undergone a comprehensive auditing process over the past six months, which the club is pleased to report has been completed without findings of any salary cap breaches or major sanctions. As part of this process, a breach of the Total Player Payment regulations was identified with regard to a Fringe Benefit Payment made to a player in the 2023 season. That amount of this payment has been retrospectively included in the club’s 2023 TPP submission. With this payment included, the Club’s TPP amount was still within the WAFL’s salary cap amount. The club has accepted a fine of $2,000 in relation to the undeclared amount. The FBT was excluded under the advice of the Club’s former bookkeepers. The Club has since employed the services of a new bookkeeper and accounting processes have since been updated to ensure this does not happen in the future. The club thanks its members and supporters for their patience throughout this lengthy process.

You can have him,he’s ok as a home away midfielder, and if your club god forbid manages. to play finals, you’ll find he’s as slow as a wet week.

Not on our list yet DD.

He will be in the next day or two DF now this investigation is over. Contract already signed and boy this guy might be the best kick in the club from what I saw yesterday.

The NO points is purely off the back of Perth’s great escape, if Perth got points, the Ferals would have too.

You are completely wrong in trying to compare the two breaches..
Perth got a $25k fine payable, 8 premiership points (suspended), 15 player points penalty (10 suspended).
East Perth fined $2000 and no premiership points or player point cap deductions deducted or suspended.
Obviously Perth’s breach was more serious

Simple fact is with the ‘legal breech’ we had no case to answer. The WAFC thought so but turns out they were wrong. The more interesting thing to come out of this is whether the WAFC will clarify this point for the future - ie will they close the door on clubs being able to pay a player’s legal fees or allow it?

Our breach was not for the Randall legal matter. At the AGM it was stated that even the AFL had ok’d it..The breach as was stated was to do with payment to do with some of Angus Schumacher’s medicals bills .

Well there should be a Royal Commission Melaka, how your mob has come up with 500K in the bank so soon after you jibbed your creditors by paying them 4cents in the dollar, unless your club took a punt, whacked your money in membership fees into crypto and got lucky which would explain everything.

I don’t think you need a royal commission Royallucky, there’s been a massive change for WP since they went broke in 2018.

They got a big membership base signed up and they now run their own bar in their new rooms. The Venues West deal they’d previously been locked into since they moved to Joondalup was horrible. That’s been renegotiated significantly with operating costs down and revenue up.

Did hear that WP have lost some significant sponsors this year, approx $70-80k worth and with the increase in men’s salary cap and introduction of a women’s salary cap this season, they need to find $120k+.

The increase in TTP for the mens and women’s comps will be a challenge for a number of clubs

WAFL clubs get extra funding from the WAFC for running women’s teams. Not sure if it covers ALL costs associated with that but probably also brings in more sponsorship opportunities.

Yes TT we’ve been made aware that in recent years that they have had their own bar,but haven’t all traditional clubs always had access to their own bar,yet still struggled to keep their head above water??You’ve mentioned their high membership numbers, but other than the Derbies, they only seem to average 1500 to 2000 at the rest of their home games, and when you consider the fact that they have apparently repaid their 250k WAFC loan back in Full,to have 500k in the bank in a relatively short time,is a remarkable turnaround.
