Of course who else
Yeah,him.
Mind you,he’s been telling us On Air for some time, about moves to create an Elite Colts Competition.Whilst we rubbish him a lot,I wouldn’t put it past the AFL to do it,let alone try it on.
Whether you’re on the Board or not, this is something we can’t allow to happen. It would be a Complete Disaster for the WAFL,but do we think Fitzpatrick and fellow clowns at the AFL care one bit about that?No chance!
Is Mc Henry,Walton and Co going to Draw a Line in the Sand and stand up to the AFL on this?Let’s not hold our breath here. It’ll be up to the 9 Clubs to Mount a United Team on this and really work on how to convince the AFL and Fitzpatrick in particular, what a totally Wrong path, they’d be taking here.
Has Fitzpatrick Completely forgotten what system he came from? The most likely answer is Yes!We’d like to be convinced otherwise.
Hopefully they do make George the new director, purely for my own entertainment. Put him in charge of proof reading and spell checking the club newsletter.
Come on George I was there Thursday night when your mates were all talking about it at the bar.
About the big loss that Swans have made and how that girl did the dirty on the club and that you should be in.

Sarah Curnow only became a member of SDFC One month before the election.
Hey George you could of ask for a recount when votes are less than 50. I voted for you
Hi all,
Just want to clear things up it appears that some users here have mistaking me for a former board member.
This is not the case my name is Paul Douglas and I’m from Wanneroo plus I’m not a member of Swan Districts just a supporter.
I do know that Swans will announce a loss over $120,000.00 at the AGM.
I do not know George personally but have seen his good work around the club as a volunteer and only warning George don’t board the sinking ship.

Point taken 42.
It will be, and SHOULD BE, a robust AGM. In my (ever so humble) opinion it was unfathomable and inexplicable the election of Ms Curnow to the board based on her failure to indicate that she was a Swans’ supporter and/or a Swans’ member for a reasonable length of time.
Again in my opinion, if Ms Curnow has indeed tendered her resignation from the SDFC Board we, as members, will expect a reasonably expansive explanation. Similarly, if the board has chosen to co-opt someone onto the board that is at odds with the previous convention of inviting the person that received the next highest number of votes it is incumbent on the Board to fully explain such a course of action.
To eliminate any doubts the above is my OWN PERSONAL VIEW and not based on any discussions of the rumoured position with either disaffected former SDFC Board member(s)(s) or unsuccessful SDFC Board candidates.

why does a board member have to be a supporter 42? I would think the person who brings the most to the table in terms of expertise and skills to advance the club would be more important no matter which team that person supports. it’s analogous to saying only shareholders can be on the board of companies…it seems nonsensical to me.

Board members are mostly unpaid positions aren’t they? Why would a non supporter want to be a board member?

people are invited onto boards and actually put their hands up for all sorts of reasons. I work for a global accounting firm and we’re encouraged to join boards for exposure and networking…plus it’s good for your commercial reputation.

I need to disagree,
I believe you need to be a financial member minimum 1 year to qualify and what you are going to bring to the footy club, not what you are going to gain for your self or your network. You need to show to your members you are doing it for the love of the football club not for your self.
Totally agree with you George. The prime pre-requisite for a Board Member should be a minimum 1, 2 or more years as a club member and a healthy passion for the football club. IMHO.
There should be absolutely no thought of any self gain.
I guess we will just have to wait for the annual report to see the financial situation. Given the emphasis that the club has had on keeping the budget tight and not recruiting over the past few years it would be very disappointing to incur a loss of the size people are talking about on here.

BC whilst I accept that it is important to have business expertise (and we have seen what happens if one doesn’t have that expertise) but it is also an imperative that the board members recognise the importance and a connection with the club. If one isn’t a supporter of the club then decisions made may not be in the best interest of the club.
Based on the article the candidate wrote to garner support for her election there didn’t appear to be any affinity to Swans.
I think we need to calm down a bit.
My sauce is telling me, the club will be make a small profit and the club has not confined Ms Sarah Curnow resignation. lets wait and see come AGM. If news comes to light before the AGM Yes I will post it. If I’m wrong I’m wrong, I can only go by what I have been told officially.
Goodo George.
I sincerely hope Swans haven’t recorded any loss, because you know what sort of speculation that’ll lead to,yet again.Enough said there!!
As for the length of membership required to be a board member,I’m not sure any limits should be set.Unless in a Host Club Scenario, where an unusual spike in membership numbers and a ticket challenge would arouse many a suspicion on what their motivation is.
Maybe that’s what we at PERTH should do.Should we enter into a Host Club scenario with the unmentionables,we should Amend the constitution,so our Board can’t be stacked, with a complete takeover. That’d be just about be The End!
George, I understand that you are being carefully on what you are saying in front of Swan Districts and this forum. You are trying to not let on how much you know.
You should be condemned on your words “your love for the club”. The Hon Treasurer is not the only one who looks at the books.
If you choose to be on the broad you need to wake up and smell the coffee. Ban now it’s up to you
