Claremont 2025 Season over

Seniors season over!
Great 3 games against EP over last month - well deserved win and opportunity to play off in GF.
Just couldn’t quite finish off some chances forward of centre today
Could be the end of an era too with the likelihood of Bolton retiring and a few others considering whether to go on.
Won’t be a bad thing though as Prescott can now mould the younger boys to take over as he has over the last two years.

Welcome aboard, Tigger, with the four East Perth-Claremont games this season all close encounters, with an aggregate margin of 38 points.
Your man Jye Bolton almost got the Tigers over the line and I’d welcome him in the Royals’ line-up, although I don’t think Jye particularly likes us given that we were giving him plenty of “advice” today (as I suspect all opposing supporter groups do).
I think Bolton is on the doorstep of 200 games, so I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t saddle up for Claremont again in 2026.

Gee a major choke again by CFC…bad news.

Hindsight is an easy thing but I reckon Claremont missed a massive opportunity last year. They had Peel beaten in the semi final and failed to cover Blair Bell defensively on a boundary throw in near the end. Bell ran into an open goal and snatched the game.
If the Tigers had got through that I reckon they would have beaten Swans in the preliminary final. Swans were pretty banged up at that stage and Peel had no problems with them. Then it would have been East Perth in the Grand Final. Once you are in the big dance you are in with a show. I think the Tigers are good enough to win a flag, they just need to be better at grabbing those key moments in big finals

Yes perhaps your right Bazz, 16 shots to 11, more tackles, more hitouts (57-38 why Eastland isn’t playing AFL is a mystery) 9 more clearances and 12 more inside 50’s so they gave themselves a huge chance, but unlike the Ferals they butchered so many opportunities, especially the 2 lads that fluffed the 2 gettable shots at goal in the last. Prescott just doesn’t seem to have the answers to get his highly talented team over the line in critical matches.

What I’ve noticed recently is Prescott seems to like ranting and raving at his players during the breaks but whenever he is interviewed when coming off the ground he’s all calm and butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth.

I thought that style of coaching was dead? Usually see most coaches say bring it in close and they speak quietly almost like they are whispering so no-one else can hear to deliver that final message. Prescott has the jugular vein popping in his final rant and there is clear distance between him and the players. Maybe that wears thin in the big games?

I think you all might be reading a bit too much into it. Understand Claremont gets a whack on most forums and not a lot of love out there, but I think most clubs would love to have the consistency that Claremont has achieved in the main over the last 5 years. Got to be in the finals firstly and then have a crack from there. We lost to EP 3 out of 4 times and both times to South so maybe that’s where we are at the moment. I take heart from the fact that EP have improved since losing Schumacher and Crowden and feel that Prescott has begun to rebuild the midfield this year to prepare for the loss of Bolton who is exposed in defence these days.
He is a very good coach and the stability also helps with developing players etc.

Well if Bolton is finishing up at Claremont perhaps he needs a fresh challenge and would be welcome at Perth in my opinion and can bring a couple of mates with him.

Hopefully your choke reference doesn’t come back to haunt you Baz …especially with SF’s recent Optus efforts…should be a cracking game, good luck to both sides.

SS. Would be that Claremont are under enormous pressure both on the field during games and off the field to perform. They have the players and the expectations on them is to be so successful that when it comes to the big results that pressure is a lot to handle. The other thing is they might have won the stats but EP just harassed, niggled and annoyed them to the point of it all being to much to handle.

Welcome to the forum Tigger. Not heard of Bolton retiring as yet. Was talking with ol’ mate on the telephone wire and heard Bolton only needs to participate in a handful of matches to reach the big 200 milestone. The match reports I’ve heard and read has him still playing some really good footy. And regularly in the best players list. Would be excellent to see him reach the 200 game mark next season.

Disappointing end to the season for our League side. Had their opportunities but failed to take them when it mattered. Congratulations to East Perth on winning through to the Grand Final. Souths have been the team to beat all season, but in a two horse race East Perth can’t be written off.

I’d be very surprised if Jye Bolton didn’t go around again. In our best still most weeks.

Not sure Prescott deserved the 2 year extension, it’s good making finals most seasons but he hasn’t proven he can win one, allowing a few good chances to pass him by too often.

Darren Harris removed after losing a GF by less than a kick to SF at Freo Oval, but Prescott loses GFs in 2004, 2005, 2007 in his first 4 year stint as coach and in his second stint from 2021, he lost the 2022 GF to West Perth.

You don’t make them to lose them and Prescott can’t win one.

I think we all know Harro wasn’t removed for losing a GF

More like they wanted a western suburbs type or something else?

Certainly we create the opportunities and it does get frustrating. I tend to watch also how we defend opposition momentum and it becomes clear that Bolton is more a liability and most observers can see now he’s a diminished player from his lofty heights and on field attitude at times is poor. I think Prescott looked like he was trying to find a roll for him over the last 4-5 weeks that preserved his strengths and minimised his defensive weakness. To me that screams time is up. And maybe a refresh will help the club move past the 2-4th stage.
