Amazing scenes at the Sydney Cricket Ground..With 5 minutes left in the match.Buddy Franklin kicked his fourth goal, his 1000th AFL goal..
Over 20,000 of the 36,000 crowd, stormed the field.Amazing aerial shots of the crowd running on the field.
It took Buddy 15 minutes to reach the Sydney dugout.Circled by adoring fans.He was a good sport, sharing his moment with the Sydney fans. But looked happy to get off the field.
Good on ya Buddy, a great feat and he’s not finished yet. I have to wonder though, why do people run on the field and swamp the players? What’s the point? “Well done Buddy, me n the boys are having a bbq tomorrow night, wanna come”? Yeh mate, me n the missus will be there. FFS.
Anyway, how good are the Swans? Just blew dads army away. They’ve got some brilliant younguns. A good lesson here for other clubs…mainly West Coast.
Looked like a COVID super spreader gathering to me. How hard would it have been for the players to come back and play 6 minutes of footy after the crowd stomping all over them. Ridiculous.
First of all well done to Buddy getting to 1000 goals, a great feat in modern footy here forwards are highly commended for kicking 50 in a season.
But just gotta love the Vicco football media saying he’s the 6th player to do it, but including players like Lockett and Coventry from their old VFL state league competition. Buddy is the one and only true AFL player to do it. If they want to include state league players who passed the 1000 gaol mark then you have to include Austin Robertson Jnr (1211), Bernie Naylor (1079), George Doig (1095), Ted Tyson (1197) from WA and Ken Farmer (1417) and Tim Evans (1019) from the SANFL.
