Buddy Franklin finally calls time.

Sensible decision by Buddy after tearing his calf early in the game against Essendon after earlier reports he was considering going around again next season. That would have been a selfish decision in my opinion and probably should have called time at the end of last season.

Sydney have 3 gun young forwards that are starved of opportunities when he’s playing. Great career, one of the greats and we won’t see another one like him ever. I remember the hype around him when he was playing colts for Perth.

Dowerin boy growing up. Well played Buddy.

An absolute legend of the game.

When Buddy signed that 10 year deal at Sydney. Not many thought he would last ,the decade.
He’s now into his 11 th season, with the Swans. Its definitely time to retire. When fit hes still a decent player.Like all champions of the game are.
Hope he comes back to Wa.My guess is Sydney would love Buddy.Still around there club so would the Hawks+"The Afl might also have plans for Buddy.

Hows the bullshit article by fox sports “adjusting” everything to then say Buddy is the greatest every F/F due to goals being harder to kick these days.

Doesn’t take in to account the mud pits, 1-2 umpires, no frees for chopping that the older generation had to play under. Always some fkn idiot with too much time on their hands.

Just accept he is number 4 on the list and was one of the greatest F/F’s to grace the field.

Probably written by a wet behind the ears 20ish year old Viper who never even witnessed football at its best and toughest!

Unless there is a change in the way football is played in to the future Buddy will probably be the last player to kick 1000 goals in his career and 100 in a season!

Well done Buddy on a fantastic career. A Perth, Dowerin & WA legend!

Silly to compare different eras, like comparing different batting eras when Bradman and co batted on uncovered pitches, imagine how many he would be making these days!!

Suffice to say that Buddy is the greatest FF in the AFL era, a true champion and 4th on the AFL/VFL list which, disgracefully doesn’t recognise the great FF from the WANFL/WAFL, SANFL and TFL comps who, like the VFL, were all the elite state competitions. Ignoring guys like Robertson, Naylor, Doig etc from WA and the great Ken Farmer from SA is typical blinkered VFL/AFL thinking.
