Buckley outcoached

Buckley mentions its the culture that is letting the club down and one of the reasons the Pies lost to the Power.
As coach, he dictates that culture, just look at what Ross Lyon can do in a heartbeat.
I have heard it was great coaching to leave Brodie Grundy in as ruck, seeing as he has earnt it. Great maybe for his development and experience. Well, Jolly is dual premiership ruckman, recovered from injury and ready to fire. I cannot believe he wouldn’t have had a few tricks up his sleeve to deal with Power’s young ruckman Lobbe.
Dane Swan playing in forward pocket, apparently to extend his career as 1 reason I have heard. BS!!! Just bad coaching! Pendlebury tagged by Cassisi, Shaw tagged by Monfries and OBrien tagged by Cornes. So putting Swan in the pocket is effectively tagging him out of the game as well.
Hinkley clearly outcoached Buckley, also bringing a fitter four quarter team to the playing field.
Didak has had good stats when getting on the field this year, I think four times out of five he was sub.
Not sure Buckley’s vision is going too well.
Second year since Malthouse and getting worse.
hahaha

well summed up … plus the Power were ready to play a finals game of football. Don’t believe the wobbles were quite ready and I thought were down on the ports intensity all game.

I think that is Powers best whereas the woods could have played better too.

He did take a lot of the blame for the inept performance on Saturday. He also did say that the coaching and game plan was part of what had to be looked at as well as the culture of the club and players.Though now a huge Buckley fan I applaud him for his honesty after the game.He is now stamping his name on the Collingwood FC by removing some of the players he is concerned about.I think he still has more to move on.
It was interesting to hear Tony Shaw saying that his nephew Heath should be moved on as well.
I think the Thomas will leave either for Carlton or the Raj Neeshies.
Maybe he was out coached, but I think he was left with the Mick Malthouse legacy, and maybe wasn’t given the golden knife early to remove some that he didn’t want at the club.

I did hear about Heath Shaw needing to be moved on.
That must be a culture thing, because some of his games this year have been outstanding.
However temper temper
Honesty is a great attribute to have and I also enjoy watching Buckley’s post match press conferences. He is very earnest.
Still a young coach so will give him some slack at this stage of his ineptness.

Well this is stupid I remember reading an article where Dane Swan himself said he only wants to go another year playing the game.

Look at it now mate bucks doin a pretty good job if you are a pies fan actually get behind hi you muppet

Pretty good for a pies supporter…you spelt ‘job’ correctly

Just took him about 9 months to respond to the original post :stuck_out_tongue:

Not much has changed since 2014. Buckley is NOT a good coach.

I’ve finally worked it out. GOLDEN BOYS cant coach. Look at Hird & Voss. Bucks is the same.
Last two Brownlow winners to be premiership coaches were Malcom Blight 1978 (1997-98) & Dick Reynolds 1938 (1949-50).
