Brownlow tonight.Who wins

Brownlow night tonight. Who wins it!
My tip would be Nick Daicos. But I have a feel that either Noah Anderson or Matt Rowell will be a big chance.
Caleb Serong will finish top ten, but not challenge.
Hard to see any one out voting Daicos, maybe a new record number of votes.

I hope not Nick Daicos … I genuinely do not believe he is the best player in the comp and I’m not sure where all the hype comes from.

IMO Daicos isn’t as good as Bont nor Danger in his prime. Danger at the start of the 3rd showed how fkn good he is … just an inspirational 10 mins of football from him. I have not seen Daicos do anything like that yet and he is still young and plenty of time to get there.

I agree, he is everyones favourite though. This is through the VFL media. He is the umpires favourite. If he is not, then tonight we will see just how much he is favoured.
I agree re Bont and Danger and could add Fyfe in there pre his injury run.
Who do you think will win it?

Very close count and could go anyway but Rowell looks to have the answers.
Joke of the night only two votes for NWM, against Dees.
Andy Brayshaw voting well.
Serongin top five

Well done Matt Rowell. Had a great year. And a deserving winner.

What a well grounded young man Matt is. So humble.
A great interview with Hamish.
His friendship with Noah Anderson is there for all to see. It is a life long friendship.
Well done young man.

Hamish McLachlan absolutely hogged the limelight asking every imaginable question to Matt Rowell, it must have gone on for half an hour.

Then when he finally gives Mathew the microphone he says I have to thank my family which I’ve probably spoken about already. I went off for a shower after that. Why does the MC always think it’s about them? Give the microphone to the winner and f off it’s not about you.

yeah agree it went on for far too long. Felt for Matt as he is a footballer not a stage performer. McLachlan strikes me as the sort of guy who wants to show everyone how clever he is

Great result to see Matt Rowell win the gong. He is an absolute clearance beast and while not looking overly flashy, like some other contenders, has wonderfull skills and a true team player, similar to Priddas, but also has pace to burn.
Daicos is also a terrific player and arguably the best disposer by foot in the game but he does less of the in and under stuff, more an outside link up player which he is an absolute jet at.

He has made a great come back. A shoulder injury after four games in his first year sidelined him for all year I think. Then could have been an ACL.
I though his career was shot, but a true champion now.
He and Anderson have a great mateship.

Disgraceful winging by some Pies supporters, probably pushed by Eddie, about Rowell winning the Brownlow instead of their precious outside receiver boy Daicos. Such poor but expected form from some of that clubs supporters. I’ll take 18 of Rowells brute force centre clearances over Daicos’s 30++ soft ball outside gets. They are different styles of player but what Rowell does is of way more value than what Daicos does.

I think Anderson is better value than Nick Daicos. And I also think his brother is more of a team player.

I am not sure I am allowed to post this here, but if not can you remove it,

Rowell winning it is great. He definitely deserves it regardless of some of the games being called out wrong. The same would be said about some of Daicos’s games too.

Umpires do not get the luxury of stats and can only give votes based on what they think they saw on the day. Hence Viney getting 3 because he had a more dominant first 3 quarters.

They also don’t get the luxury of watching games back.

Unfortunately it is nothing but a mid fielders medal now with the way the game is played.

Thanks for the response Viper. But remember that that day NWM had 34 possessions and kicked four gaols. Not a bad tally for the day. And, to add, two clutch goals in the last 1/4.
Agree re Rowell, he had a great year and is a bull around contests.

Yeah that was the game I was referring too about Viney. He got the 3 because he carried Melbourne the first 3 quarters.

I’ll upload it later but I got sent a stats graph between Daicos and Rowell and Rowell was either 1 or 2 for nearly every stat bar 2 and Daicos was so far down the list on everything except total possessions. Puts it in to perspective.

ok some head to head stats that matter for an inside mid and averages

Disposals
Daicos - 30 (2)
Rowell - 26 (15)

Tackles
Rowell - 8.5 (2)
Daicos - 5 (10)

Inside 50’s
Daicos - 6 (2)
Rowell - 5.6 (7)

Clearances
Rowell - 8.2 (1)
Daicos - 6.2 (7)

Clangers (not a good stat to own haha)
Rowell - 5 (1)
Daicos - 4.3 (5)

Cont possessions
Rowell - 13.8 (3)
Daicos - 10.5 (outside top 20)

Uncontested possessions
Daicos - 18.1 (2)
Rowell - 12.8 (not inside top 20)

when do put them against each other … Rowell wins the important ones that matter. Not sure how Daicos gets an “outside soft player” tag as that isn’t case. Rowell has more handballs which brings his team mates in to the game.
