What has this guy done not to be picked? Last year he was screaming out for a league debut after being touted as a top 10 pick and dominating at colts and U16/18s level. In the end we never played him and he fell down draft boards as a result. New Year and he is playing ressies and he is exactly what the league team needs. Hard at it and racks up stats and a bloody smart footballer. He had 33 on the weekend so hopefully like the nose on the selectors face, they have to pick him.
Play the young man before he leaves to a better club for opportunity.
36 touches on the weekend….surely worth a chance now?
My other big bugbear is Jesse Turner. What we have seen for some time is that Jesse can get 40 touches and it makes zero difference to our chances of winning or the scorebaord. Nobody gets 2 possies out of one chain more than him. He demands the footy even when not in the right spot and barrels younger blokes that dont give it to him. He turns it over regularly and is not a great kick over a distance. I reckon Jese walks off every week content that he pulled his weight and thats all he needs to do. A poor leader IMO. Captains dont yell and scream at their team mates.
So, how about we move him to half back or BP as a run off defender with instruction to go long at every opportunity. Measure him in meters gained not disposals. That gets him out of the midfield and who knows we may find one of these young blokes (like Blake Kelly) can actually be a longterm player for us..Give them 4-6 weeks with no selection pressure. It couldnt be any worse than what we are currently dishing up..
I will go as far to say if we dont beat EF - changes need to be made immediately so the season isnt a complete waste and the club can get a new coach and football dept in their own time..
He can come to EF- he’d definitely get a game. Same with Cartwright- who also racks it up and kicks goals- why doesn’t he get a game?? Your 2s are always strong- are the just not good enough
To be honest Im finding it hard to understand what the selection strategy is if there is one. I suspect that some players are in a “ favoured group” Others will be left to languish in the 2nds no matter how well they play. Sad really
Blake will follow in his brothers footsteps soon no doubt if he doesn’t start getting some games soon. A genuine smooth mover, gifted footballer and a ripping young man to boot!
In what world does Blake Kelly not play this game? I cant believe it. They are so stubborn as they do not want to be proven wrong. Staggering lack of a decision from a club I am rapidly running out of patience with.
Are the coaching staff not watching reserves football . This guy’s figures have been good for a while now. Give him a go very hard to understand the reason behind this.
Glad he’s in the team at last. Let’s not put pressure on the young and give i him a chance to settle in. The team picked looks ok to me. It’s just how they play . To be involved from start to finish at a high level.
Amazing to have a new player in the team playing his first game that could hit a forward on a lead. His goal was first class too and he showed good leg speed which was apparantly a knock on him. Im still puzzled why he hasnt been playing. Maybe this result is just what we needed to start trusting a few of our younger guys and getting games into them. The ressies are undefeated for a reason.
Impressive wasn’t he? Took him a while to get into the pace of the game but once he did he really contributed. He should be on the league team sheet for the rest of the season and I reckon he will become a key player in the Swans midfield /forward line as he gains experience
Hopefully Cotellessa and Harvey can join him in the back half of the season and they can play some senior footy together. The time has come for Cipro to take a back seat and for Chalcraft to have a run inr the 2’s. It’d be nice if Trew got some help also.
Not sure about cipro doesn’t get enough possessions. But does work really hard and does is best work getting it out of the centre. Agree about the others tho.
Cipro is very much an extractor and works hard in congestion. Unfortunately he is one that butchers the ball by foot regularly - should be a handball first policy fir Cips. He gets shown up on the spread by the better teams so his days are prob numbered in the league side really..Has been a fine servant though.
