A massive game for the club tonight against the Lions.
The biggest game for a long time.A sell out, not sure if that mean we will see at least 60,000 there or not. But if so, the noise will be immense.
Only one change from last week s win, Deadly goes out and Wagner comes in.Deadly has been good, but Wags maybe just the defender or tagger the team needs.
Pretty sure that we win this one that we are safe in the eight.
Very high stakes on this game. Win and they might just get in the top 4, lose and it will be a battle for survival against the Doggies next week
Freo are the biggest bottlers in AFL history. One of the biggest games in their history and they didnt turn up at all. What an embarrassment for their long suffering supporters. If they are lucky enough to scrape into the finals, they will go out in week 1. They have been shown what a premiership team looks like by Brisbane tonight and they are not in the same league
Lol it went to script Mike. This is the Fremantle pattern. As soon as everyone starts patting them on the back, talk of Longmuir being coach of the year etc… they start drinking their own bath water.
I’d hate to be behind enemy lines with Longmuir as my platoon leader. He’d lead us straight into an ambush and wouldn’t see it coming.
Longmuir seems totally unable to come up with another strategy during the game when his plan doesnt work. They kept bombing the ball downfield straight to Harris Andrews who had a birthday. There was no drive from the midfield as opposition teams have worked out if they nullify Brayshaw and Serong, Fremantle have nothing else to offer. Its tough on them missing finals with 15 wins but they had a chance tonight to show that they belong with the big boys but they failed miserably. Even a close hard fought loss would have shown they might have something to offer but Brisbane obliterated them
These sort of games happen in footy.
- Two posters
- The came up behind him like a librarian
- The touch high up on the line (point)
- A couple of dubious frees at momentum killing times
- The one hundred metre penalty - goal.
Plus
Bolton and O’Driscoll having shockers
Plus
O’Mera, Jackson, Banfield, Erasmus and Fredrick being way off their best
Plus
Amiss’ form worries
All makes for an ugly night.
Fremantle will be 7th by this time tomorrow and have the Western Bulldogs breathing down their neck by 6pm Sunday. Best case scenario from here is 7th or 8th, worst case dropping out finals.
Either way Longmuir has to go.
Give me a break. Where ya been for the last 12 weeks.
Front runner.
That was very ordinary, but there is no way I jump ship or sit back and take pot shots.
I just saw JL’s presser. Best he has had. Also added the 100 meter penalty - goal to my 4 points above.
Easy o be critical but this is what my opinion is
Darcy ok tap ruckman, doesnt get involved enough around the ground, stands and watches contests
Omera, too slow and average skills
Banfield not good enough at the highest level
Cox Ryan …all the same type of player, can mark, BUT no dash or good enough to run out of the back half and create
Bolton…talented but selfish and has 3 flags and $$$, where is the hunger
Dudley needs another pre season or 2
Amiss…where was the smooth as silk player of 2 years ago
Ohhh and the last thong Longmuir will never be a premiership coach
I think the biggest frustration is that we have seen this scenario so many times in the past. Big game, Friday night, everything at stake and the Dockers freeze in the spotlight. Definitely a mental thing as they are so much better than they demonstrated last night but the reality is that depending on the results of other games the highest they can finish is 6th even if they beat the Bulldogs and if they make the finals it will be more likely to be 7th or 8th which means no home finals. Victory would have given them a real shot at top 4 or at least a home final.
Exactly and that’s why he has to go. It’s been a consistent pattern of show great promise then take 2 steps backwards. Seen enough if they don’t get rid of him it will be another wasted season next year.
Previous 12 weeks mean nothing! 11 out of 12. Mean nothing.
You been very quietly hiding to take pot shots?
Mike, I would much sooner finish in the eight, regardless of where than miss. Great experience for the boys.
I respect your views Anchorman and maybe this team are not quite ready to challenge for the flag yet. Perhaps the media pump their tyres up too much because the other team in town is so bad. However if you analyse the 12 games leading up to last night, they got out of jail in a few of the games they won.
The first one in this run was
GWS away - an excellent victory
Port Adelaide _ Home comfortable win
Gold Coast - away great win
North Melbourne - Home 6 point win - too close for comfort
Essendon - Home 27 point win, only pulled away late in the game
St Kilda Home 12 point win Saints were in front at various stages
Sydney - Away loss
Hawthorn - Home 13 point win- best win of the season
Collingwood- Away - 1 point win ditto
West Coast home - 45 point win Comfortable
Carlton home 27 point win came from behind in the last quarte
Port Adelaide - 4 point win ditto
So a lot of very good victories against contenders in that lot and a number of very patchy performances against lower teams, apparently finding it hard to get motivated against these teams.
Thats why I thought they would match Brisbane kick for kick last night but they seemed unprepared for the ferocity that the Lions came with.
On reflection though its no shame to be beaten by last years premiers and instead the Dockers will rue the defeats by Sydney, Melbourne and that shocking Friday night thumping by St Kilda earlier in the year as the main reason for their plight at the moment
Mike, I am under no illusion about winning the flag, but would prefer to see the boys play finals rather than miss out.
Regardless if how we won those games we won them. As has been said, last year we lose the majority of them. A maturing of the group I think.
Last night was a real blow.
And that’s how a good side does it ladies. WB get the job done and by dinner time Wednesday week the chokers under Longmuir will be dispatched from the top 8 and curtains for 2025. Those of you who can’t handle reality and respect others opinion can go and suck on it.
So its an elimination final next week between the Dockers and the Dogs, unless Gold Coast loses its last two games which is very unlikely.
If Gold Coast win both games by a handsome margin they could still push up into the top 4 at the expense of Collingwood. The winner of Brisbane and Hawthorn will also go into the top 4 ( depends on % between Gold Coast, Collingwood and Hawthorn). GWS are safe in the top 8. Adelaide and Geelong will finish 1st and 2nd.
The duck are farting and leaving a vile smell.
Well done Dockers. Showed a lot of character to overcome a poor first quarter and earn themselves a home final against an opponent who had all the advantages but were not good enough
Fremantle will be 6th tonight.
