Scorchers certainly did luck out this year with their overpaid internationals. I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s game v Sydney. Could be a preview of a finals game. Eskinazi has probably been their biggest failure as far as imports go.
Eskinazi has been poor in his two inninings so far but I think he deserves a few more opportunities given that they are on a winning streak. Lyth was a bit of a dud during his stay here.
I think Faf was a bit undergone after getting a late call up a the the Scorchers O/S, English, player was done for an illegal substance.Would have liked to see more, but I guess it is the risk you take.
I agree the culture of the Scorchers comes from state pride.
We certainly got a good one some years back with Jason Behrendoff. From memory he came from Canberra.
A real bonus.
So many one sided games at the moment in the BBL. The competition just seems to be dragging on and on. Still another 3 weeks to go before the final at which time all the kids will be back at school. I believe that the tournament will be compressed somewhat next year which is a good move.
Mike it is laughable they introduced 2 teams out of Melbourne & Sydney as there is just barely enough talent for 1 side in those 2 states.
They should just go back to the 6 original cricket states, still call them the Perth Scorchers, Brisbane Heat etc and then you have your 10 games (5 home & 5 away) that makes it a far more interesting competition not too mention condensed series.
I mean really the whole notion of a Melbourne or Sydney Derby is laughable for cricket.
Also if they cant find Internationals that are A grade instead of the C or D graders they get out here and or washed up veterans, than they should be forced to stick with local talent, which will be hard seeing as no Indian players can play in the BBL!
Far less games next year.
It has become a very boring tired competition .
Yes a 6 team tournament would be able to be completed in 3 -4 weeks and would maintain interest throughout.
Scorchers have a couple of good games in Sydney this weekend against the Thunder with Warner and the Sixers with Lyon and Smith. Hopefully Morris gets a run and gives the test batsmen a working over!
If the aim is to attract the best players who are only available for half a season or less then the league probably has to be scheduled around that or soon after the cream has gone
There’s so many 20 over comps now it might even pay CA to just make it domestic with a few O/S top ups if there were any
chance for FOX to push for a NZ connection or co-comp as they’ve sort of made clear
Interesting Southerner.CA has reduced the BBL from 62 to 41 games next year. But hinted to 7 and Foxtel/Kayo that they want a North and South Island NZ team.
The only way this can happen is dropping the second Nsw/Vic sides.Renegades +Thunder have to go , to make way for two Kiwi teams.

Well he certainly put paid to my comment. That was a good innings this time.
That’s a good idea about having a couple of Kiwi teams. They’re always competitive, especially when playing against Aussies. But whatever, they have to shorten the season and put the zing back into the comp.
Yes and that other English recruit Payne made an impressive debut as well taking 2 wickets. At full strength the Scorchers have an embarrassment of riches in the bowling department when you think that they were without Richardson and Berendorff for the Thunder game and managed to still bowl them out for 111. Also the batting output has improved a lot since Bancroft and Hardie have been promoted up the order. Hardie is an ideal number 3 in 20/20. He has a sound technique but can also belt the cover off the ball. Looking forward to seeing how they go against the Sixers tomorrow on their least favourite wicket ,the SCG
It appears that WA are keeping a couple of those NSW and Vic based franchises alive.

Sorta like the VFL??
Scorchers beaten by a better team last night. I was distracted by the Fox commentary team of Brendan Julien, Mark Waugh and Brad Haddin. I normally take no notice of biased commentators but these guys took the skill to new levels, especially Haddin who got to the stage of cursing when the Sixers missed a run out. Sounded like he was in the Sixers coaching box. Awful stuff.
A very good game, good fightback from Scorchers after looking out of it.
another good knock from Eskinazi. A gatherer of runs. But late we needed a hitter. But I guess the blame for that goes to the hitters earlier who fell.
It was rather galling to listen to Waugh again having a crack at Agar. He is constantly having a crack , claiming he failed on a spinners wicket in the rest. If my memory is not failing me, the quicks took the vast majority of wickets in that game.
He is a sour old past NSW player.

All we needed was another a grade Sydney muppet in Brett Lee instead of BJ and we would have had a trio of Sydney flogs!
Notice how these clowns always step around Sydney’s shite weather, reckoning it only rains when the Test is on lol…having had to spend a lot of time in both Sydney & Melbourne over the years I can tell you it rains most days there not sparingly!
They need to be reminded that Benaud remained unbias to the end, working here and in
England.
Tim David has one year left on his Hurricanes contract. It looks like the Scorchers are going to move Heaven and Earth. To get the AU T20 player back to Wa.
If we finish top we will beat the 6 ers at Optus.Home prelim and final. Our tail is long and Tim would be perfect in the middle order.
Well done to the Nedlands local product for carrying his bat.Running that single last ball of the 19 over was a big mistake.Doesnt look like he has a power game but rotated the strike well.
How about the Brisbane Heat rolling Adelaide in Adelaide.. Defending an under par score.Adelaide with perhaps the best BBL batting line up ever assembled.Alex Carey,Travis Head,Matt Short,Chris Lynn..

Could have been worse I guess BH. At least Geoff Lawson is not part of the commentary team!

Hardie has been belting them everywhere in the last few games but he missed out this time. If either Turner or Hobson could have stayed with Eskinazi, the Scorchers would have got over the line. Hobson showed poor game awareness when the Sixers rolled the dice in the 17th Over with their best bowler ( Abbott). If he had got through that over rather than trying to belt Abbott out of the park, he would have found it easier to get boundaries in the last 3 overs.
