A long way to go yet. 4 very competitive looking games next week ,the exception probably being West Perth v Peel which could get a bit ugly

Will Freo risk Darcy if Arens is in a Treacherous State?
Painful memories triggered RR. 2 losses to Peel in GFS in the twenty teens playing against our own players and in the first, I think, against the umpires, who seemed to be over protective of the AFL boys. To make things worse, Freo had underestimated their own players and left them in Peel who went on to have good careers at other AFL clubs, eg Matt Debor and perhaps Collins. Tendai Mazungu? As well. Aaron Naughton couldnāt even squeeze into their team.
Still, could have won the second of them with some better kicking for goal in the third quarter. I wonāt mention any names.

JL and in the first one we had a farrrkn good side and played well and tried our guts out just couldnāt get near them

Their Worst Season in a very long time.1939 to be Exact,when they only Won 1 game in 20.
Given the closeness of the comp, Iām quietly hopeful Subi will finish top 3 if we start getting a few back. Petruccelle, Rickson, Sokol, Borchet will all come back in over the next couple of weeks and Iām not sure where Bravo and Jarrod Richards are on their respective comeback journeys as both are still listed on our senior list and will add depth.
Schoey said in the paper today that Miller will play ruck/forward with Mayo, Borchet, Sokol when Rickson returns so that will make it a very tough forward line to match up on and give multiple scoring options including medium sized Petruccelle, Saino and Robbins.
Schoey Jr is an important inclusion into our midfield and Blight gives us size down back. Hopeful we can go deep into September but weāll need a full list given our lack of depth compared to others.
I feel if we stay healthy and get Schlensog back with what he brings makes us very formidable given what weāve been able to achieve without him and maybe Indi Kirk recovers sooner than expected adding to that midfield depth.

Big challenge to start off though against a South Team lining up their big guns FOR US and the elements to boot.So we really need to get our hands Very Dirty on Saturday,to have a chance of Winning!
And donāt forget,they can NOT be written off in defending their Premiership.I might have them finishing 4th,but they ARE a very competitive 4th.
The way they beat us in round two Grassy was our worst loss of the season IMO they came out switched on from the get go and we never got going. They will fancy their chances and we need this win to be taken seriously. The Gus Seebeck Cup.

It is very clear that, absent injury, PT are going to breeze to the flag like Subi did in their power years. They have won their last 7, with a % of 209. 2 of their 3 losses have been by a point.
With 7 games remaining you couldnāt ask for a better round of fixtures next week. Bottom 4 all play each other giving hope to a couple of those teams they get the 4 points and other results go their way keeping their hopes alive.
And 1st plays 2nd, 3rd plays 6th and 4th plays 5th. If my memory serves me correct supporters of a few clubs last season were saying the top 5 was already done and dusted well before the first round of fixtures were over.

Putting my WAFL Glasses on,each game,but 1 this week really does have a bearing on the Final 5.
West Coast v East Fremantle
Transferred a few weeks back from a Saturday,this could go either way,with both getting agonisingly close to a Win,but both with Injury concerns.Could come down to the Selection table.
Peel v Claremont
Game of the Round for 1st v 2nd.The Tigers are one Team that can beat Peel and have done so recently.But on current form of late,can they do so again against a Red Hot Thunder,boosted by a few extras?One player canāt make too much difference,but Bailey Rogers has probably already received several SOSās of late.
South Fremantle v Subiaco
Big game may well determine which Team is better positioned to set up for a proper Finals run,though both with a few things to address.Neither were convincing,even Subi in Victory by one report.Someone has to step it up this week
East Perth v Perth
Gutsy Win by the Royals last week,but can they keep it up against a Demons Team,that has added an exciting new element into itās play this season?
Flicking a switch into overdrive.Of course,we saw the reverse when the switch went faulty not so long ago.Result has the potential to be a Finals rematch down the stretch,ā¦
West Perth v Swan Districts
A battle for the Wooden Spoon,which has no bearing on the Final 5.And despite their own wishy washy form,Swans could hand West Perth a mighty walloping with an early Wooden Spoon.Cardies could have their worst season in 87 years.

Peel are now the favourites for the flag but a lot will depend on whether the Dockers can remain relatively injury free.
Apart from them I reckon this is a wide open race and any one of 6 other teams could play off in the Grand Final if they can get a bit of a roll in late August early September. I donāt think West Coast are in the race
Given my team is out of it, Iām going to jump on the Demons bandwagon with the slogan āIts timeā . I would love to see a final played at Lathlain, Its the only ground that hasnāt hosted a WAFL final. I only live about 3km from the ground and it would be a great occasion that I wouldnāt miss.
