I have just banned most of the world from accessing the site.
Let me know if anyone is experiencing problems… Also need to know you can still read this

can read but had a message abt parrallel something or other
Yes, me too.. Not quite sure why though. All I can think is that I uploaded a 1.5mb file with a heap of IP’s of undesirable countries. It may have taken a minute or two to update.
all coming through ok here in queens park, must be the 'export’filter we have
All ok in the kingdom of boganville!!
I thought I had gone crazy when I saw something about parallels.
Looks like it’s okay again now.
Cheers
No problems accessing the site from rabbit flats. I saw the spam message earlier and thought I was seeing things.
Just bit if a run down from what went on last night.
We had our first piece of spam. originate from Indonesia. It appears that the pest had to sign up for an account (user nasiasin), and manually post the spam. It wasn’t inserted via a script. The advertising was for a company that sold DIY kitchens in the UK.
I’ve sent them a dirty email regarding using these undesirable countries services, and how it destroys business creditability.
I have banned an number of countries from accessing the site.
Australian websites such as these are constantly under attack from places such as Turkey, Palestine and Indonesia.
In Palestine alone, Hamas report there are over 24,000 hackers who will try to infiltrate western websites.
Indonesia is not far behind. Much of the hacking is done for money (for funding terrorism or otherwise). Online stores are a favourite for trying to grab credit card details from. It is wise to ban access from other countries and host these websites in Australia if you run one of these.
In Australia we have a government who is building a national broad band network to stop us from falling behind in the ever growing E-commerce sector. The problem is that we have countries who insist on casing havoc.
These people, who also mount some attacks on Australia business via Indonesian government computers are really no less destroying Australian business, and thus the Australian economy at the same time. Yet, we proceed with the NBN, and don’t give a rats about these bastards.
Infact apparently according to Dfat “The relationship between Australia and Indonesia has never been stronger. Australia and Indonesia are close neighbours with a highly productive relationship that encompasses political, security, commercial, environmental, cultural and people-to-people links. The strength of the relationship can be seen in the depth and breadth of high level exchanges between leaders, ministers and prominent people of both countries.” - http://www.dfat.gov.au/geo/indonesia/indonesia_brief.html
Wake up Australia! we’d rather sook them up than look after Australia’s interests.
Mike.
That’s interesting Mike. When Footygoss was under attack Grassy thought it was coming from the people running WAFL Online to sabotage us. Hahaha
Where is Grassy?
The spam attack last night was from Indonesia… I checked the IP address.
WAFL Online was the WAFC’s, wasn’t it?
Mike
A Little bit political there mate, the broadband system is just keeping us up with the rest of the world!
I’ve kept my eye on the New members signing up the last few weeks and there has been some very unusual names starting to pop up. I think Mike and George will have there work cut out for them with the scum bags
If everyone stays vigilant, we should be able to keep this site spam free. This is one of the few sites that’s like a breath of fresh air, so to speak because there’s no crap bombarding everyone.
And someone asked about waflonline? Yes the so called football commission do control it as far as I know.
As a former member on Goss and WAFL online I’m pleased to see this site up andrunning
Footygoss was ruined by aholes with their spam
And WAFL online became a forum for a few peanuts to attack each other
Hope the mods here jump on any fools going down that road
The trouble with footy goss was not the spammers,it was the total lack of interest shown by the owners who refused to put spam checks on the site.
At least here we don’t have to put up with that. The owners have a real interest in keeping the site clean.
I noticed when overseas in Egypt (thank christ that was last year)
and Jordon/Morocco I could not access OZFOOTY. It came up with some page that said it was forbidden in my location or whatever..
I assume your settings dont allow posters from out of Australia or only include some countries???
Ok not many of us go overseas often but nice to be able to have a look at the local footy here.
Understand if you dont change the policy if there is a policy in place maybe it was just something to do with the ISP over there in Middle East?
We did have a couple of poster from overseas NY Yankee etc so they have no entry?
Then again the amount would be so small hardly a problem..
Anyway great site just a couple of points that should be clarified re overseas use.
Happy with any measures to keep the Spam off but I really think FootyGoss admin and owners didnt give a dam and the gates opened as in previous years no Spam appeared on the the Site.. Thats history
Just recently returned from os Cardy - had the same problem in Poland, but not in UK.
The website is not available from the Middle East, Most of Africa and some of Asia.
I ran some software checking the malicious attempts made on the OzFooty.Net domain and as such have made it so it can not be accessed from these countries.
Unfortunately we had attempted penertration from mainly non Christian countries (no I do not consider myself Christian so its not a Christian vs Muslim thing).
In particular a fairly sophisticated attempt was foiled originating from government computers of a nearby country north west of WA.
Apparently we have never had better relations with this country according to a certain Australian political party.
To limit the possible high exposure of attacks, I felt it best to take this action. So far it seems to be the right choice.
The website is accessible from the United States and other considered safe spots where their governments take a certain amount of responsibility.
If you have any concerns with this, please let me know.
Mike.
Thanks mate explains it all.. Good idea
Not sure what the problem is or whether others have noticed? When reading a topic and scroll to the bottm of the page, an advert appears on the right hand side of the screen. If one wishes to view the next page of whichever topic is being read, the spam won’t allow one to change pages! As soon as the side bar is scrolled up, the spam disappears. I’ve never noticed this crap appear before. Is there something I can do to stop it appearing on the screen? Anyone noticed it? And the little white square stays on the screen too on the right hand side.
