B Grade Grand Final

Wesley Curtin v Collegians (Blue Steel Oval Bassendean)

  • Guess you could say this is Wesley Curtin’s game to lose. They have recruited heavily at the start of the season and are undefeated so far this year, up to this stage! Collegians on the other hand have come from 4th spot to get to the GF and have had a great last 3 weeks beating some good sides. Wesley should win but I will not be surprised with what I’ve seen in the last two weeks if the underdog takes them all the way to the line!

I’m tipping Collegians here, just about every team that has had the finish top, week off, play a final, week off preparation in recent years has lost.

Whilst I’d love to see Collegians get a win over the team that is undefeated after bringing through a host of ex-WAFL players (and good on them and good luck to them), I think Curtin should get up here.

It will be interesting to see how Coll go in A Grade - they will struggle I’d suggest after years in the B Grade bottom 5 and being promoted from 4th. So here’s hoping they can get a win over the favourites.

West Coach must be bitterly disappointed with the end to their season. They would have pencilled in A Grade many weeks ago after sitting 2nd all year. Did the wheels fall off?

I dunno Blunder, I saw Collegians twice this year and yes they were very up and down from week to week for the most part but strung some good wins together at the end. The second time I saw them they were real slick. I wasn’t surprised to see them get over Whitfords but agree with you that I too thought West Coast were clearly the second best team. I’m telling you mate, this won’t be a belting and don’t be surprised at all if they get up.

I hope you’re right PP! Would prefer to see the underdog win, particularly a side that hasn’t had the benefit of some top-line WAFL players injected in.

My main concern about Collegians is their depth to compete at A grade level. I think it was last year when they could barely string a reserves team together at the end of the year when the boys took off to Europe and injuries took their toll so they had a few beltings. Every club has off years but they’d need everyone to stay at home over winter in fit and healthy condition to consistently compete at what is a very good level. That said, they’ve got two colts teams and their reserves have also had a much improved year so well done to them!

The question is who are Curtin Wesley going to leave out of their B Grade GF team? They have stacked their side with so much with ex AFL/WAFL/Country talent they can’t stay under 43 Points. they maxed out at 43 points in the 2nd Semi with Cory Dell’Olio and Toby Bairstow to come back in. Toby is only 1 point these days but they either have to drop another 4 pointer or 2 3 pointers… Who do they leave out? Meanwhile Collegians is at about 34 points. Apparently from the PPS review meeting hand out they are the lowest average in B grade.
Ashton Hams 4
Cory Dell’Olio 4
Mitchell Carter 4
Ben Saunders 4
Jarrod Parry 3
Brennan Gillam 3
Rhett Mason 3
Chris Leonard 3
J Guglielmana 1
Jackson Dennis 3
Toby Bairstow 1
James Corner 3

From memory Collegians played in a B grade premil in 2016 and were in A grade in 2013 so not that long ago.

Yep played whitford in the 2016 prelim.

Wesley Curtin by 25 pts, they could easily knock off a number of WAFL reserve sides, with their stacked with talent team

Course I could be wrong.

the antics of the Collegians Commentator during the livestream was embarrassing. It was pretty clear jealousy took over when he resorted to calling CUW “South Fremantle” at 3qtr time. salt from people like him make the tiges enjoy their flag so much more

If Collegians played as well as their pissed supporters on the hill threw abuse they would have walked it in.
