International summer starts today in Perth but the big question is how much play will they get given the rather dodgy forecast. There will be a big crowd at Optus no doubt, it may even feel like a home game for India, such is their support. If the game goes ahead I think Australia may be in for a reaming as they look very understrength. Inglis, Green, Zampa and of course Cummins out of the team. Nice to see Josh Phillipe get an opportunity on his old home ground. Renshaw and Owen also could make their debuts.
For India it is the Koh-Roh farewell tour but also a showcase of the incredible young talent that India have at their disposal
Gee the Sydney folk must be having a good giggle at all the rain currently in Perth…good start by the Aussie’s, nice catch by Connolly…last time WA folk will see Kohli…and it was a duck…different from last year from memory.
Difference being Freeze outside the first couple of games in cricket season you wont see another drop of rain until well in to footy season in Perth (it is mid October).
Sydney on the other hand well you are guaranteed to be rained off during the heart of cricket season especially when their Test is on & their International white ball games!!!
Phillippe has begun well. Two very good catches.
Starc and Hazlewood both bowled well.
The Connolly catch was a beauty.
I am always bemused the commentators saying batsmen, when caught down the leg side, are unlucky. Never been able to work it out.
Apart from the game, interesting chat by Kath Loghlan, with Marnus ,during one of the early breaks.
I know mate, it was a tongue in cheek comment. As I have just come back from seeing some old school mates in Sydney this week, and we were taking the mick out of a few Sydney folk, about how it rains all the time in Sydney for the cricket, and how the NY test should be in Perth…They would be having an ironic giggle at us no doubt, with the rain interruptions in Perth today…
Good win by the Aussies. A pity about the rain
Some good signs. Kuhnemann bowled well. Phileppe kept well and batted with confidence.
Marsh ,again led the way. Appears very comfortable with the captaincy.
Had to laugh at him and the pickle juice and what ever it was in the tube he had.
A tight game but the Aussies help tight. A great knock from Cooper Connolly. Held the middle order together.
A mixed bag with the batting, a few of the top order played some ordinary shots. But Short, played well and was supported by Connolly, who then took over. Then Owen stepped in as well.
Zampa man of the match for his bowling.
Connolly will take some real confidence in that innings.Cool calm and collected througout his inning.
Only the most one eyed Australian supporter would have begrudged Kohli and Rohit Sharma their final innings in Australia to lead India to an easy victory. Both have been great players for their country and they deserved their moment of glory
