Aussie dilemma

Many here know more about what is going on with the Aussie test team, but is Australian cricket in a bit of strife at the moment?
A failing at the top end of our batting.A failure in the middle order, maybe other than Smith, Head and Carey.
Our bowling attack is of a high class and close, if not he best attack in world cricket, but with them all getting on in years, should the coming tour of the Windies be a time to play a couple of those sitting on the side lines.
Is it wise to be saying that Scott Boland, at 36, should be next in line.
And , what is the future of Cameron Green! what position should he be batting at, with webster now seemingly taking the all rounder spot.

Seinor, good questions you pose and for me there needs to be a big changing of the guard. I fear for a couple of years it may go back to the early 80’s results wise.
We have become an aging side through this philosophy of picking the best 6 batters and making them bat anywhere, due to that we have not blooded anyone, however there are no standouts in the shield that have smashed runs every year like we had in the heyday of 90’s cricket.
I know he has had detractors, but the first question needs to be asked of the coach, and it simply needs to be, are you prepared for 3 hard years and if he doesn’t instantly reply yes then its time to find someone who is.

I do worry about our bowling, they are all old and Hazelwood breaks down a lot, other sides have Lyon pegged and he doesn’t take wickets, yet again in shield cricket where games are won inside 4 days there are no stand out fast bowlers who take heaps of wickets each game.

Thank PH. Changes are needed, maybe on the selection panel as well.
Even though the team in general have been succesful.
I am not a huge fan in keeping future players away from SS games either..

Well Marnus is gone… for the time being any way. Replaced by Sam Konstas.
Also good to see that Josh Inglis is part of the eleven for the first test against the Windies starting next week.

There’s a couple like Green & Khawaja who will be seriously tested by a couple of the WI quicks

Hard to believe there’s not many changes for a series which could have helped blood some new talent

Geez there’s some bile ducts in that hierarchy

Good to see Inglis in, even though its only because Smith is injured. Kontas should play from now on into the ashes unless he loses form. Can’t understand Abbott being selected as a replacement, he is not a red ball player and they have lost the opportunity to give Meredith, Morris or Buckingham a run. The pitches will probably require 2 spinners I guess so it will be Kuenemann in for one of the quicks, probably Hazlewood

I wonder if Abbott is going to be a saviour in the Windies.
Never played for Australia in a test yet. Too late to be calling him up.?

I think the Abbott selection just reeks of them picking who they think is next in line with no vision to the future, this would have been a great opportunity for a couple o young kids to be in the west indies working with and watching the way the Aussie quicks go about their business.

The priority allrounder to make fully prepared is Aaron Hardie
Not some over 30 year old who hasn’t been deemed good enough so far to be a permanent fixture
Inevitable this will end in years of constant rebuilds with this coaching & selection regime
The WC flop should have seen changes everywhere top to bottom

Southerner, I think that role, the all rounder, has now gone to Beau Webster. He has taken iot from Cam Green,
But Also I think Hardie had an ordinary season in both BBL and SS.Might be wrong, but didn’t he get dropped from the CA contracts during last season!
