Way back in '77, someone took training for a night of what we believed to be an Elite Team,the reigning Premiers in Perth.
Wal(Wally Baker)often loved to recite who it was who took training and how knackered the players were at the end,by the Guest Coach no less!

He was still playing in ‘77 and it was probably Sheeds’ last hurrah for a top season,before the injuries cursed him in '78 and through to his retirement,halfway in the '79 season.
By then,he would have learnt a lot from Tommy Hafey and any assistants Tommy had throughout Richmond,when they were an Absolute Powerhouse.
But the boys at Lathlain Park weren’t to know just yet,when Sheeds was going to try his hand at the Coaching Caper,first in 1980 as an Assistant to Tony Jewell,then later that year when he was going to put the polish on Barry Davis’ work at Essendon.
But they sure felt it!
