AFL loan

See they say the AFL will be given a 600 mil loan. Surprised me a bit, I thought they would have been well healed. I think that’s a good thing. Even though the majority here hate them, Aussie Rules would slowly become a minor sport here if they had to fold. I think it would be foolish to think state leagues would have the same impact as AFL. And Gil can get to keep his fat pay check while others take a pay cut .

Their Docklands & Gold Coast debacle will end up ruining football as we knew it - this has exposed them badly

Southy you can throw in aflx, those Irish International Rules junkets for players and staff at vfl house, China games, those Aust-U/18s junkets to play overseas during the WAFL season…the list of dollars wasted by those Vic numptys goes on and on and on!

Back in 1996 when they got rid of Fitzroy I thought there finally may be a cull of the money draining no hopers and we might actually get a true National competition that was lean & mean with good clubs
It would have meant less player losses for the state leagues which meant stronger grass root production lines (so to speak) and healthy state leagues which could easily co-exist
In other words the way it was sold to them in the very first place

The problem is not one cent of it will see the light of day in WA. That Victorian inbred has already announced if they manage to play a compromised season in 2020 and they can’t play the GF at the MCG before cricket takes over, then it will be played at Marvel.

Go fuck yourself you useless Victorian cunt. So if there’s a grand final between the two WA teams or two SA teams or a WA team and a SA team why the fuck wouldn’t it be played at the ground of the highest ranked team? Marvels capacity is what, 70,000? Optus is 60,000, I think Adelaide Oval 55,000. As usual it’s all about Victoria. Go fuck yourselves.

DD Marvel only holds 54k which is less than both Perth Stadium & Adelaide Oval.
They both of course hold cricket pitches from October to February but cricket could always move back to the WACA for this summer to allow Perth Stadium to hold a GF but it is in all likely hood a moot point as I doubt there will be any footy this season now.

the arse pirate is on millions a year buddy he isn’t about to give that up any time soon - he’s mismanaged billions of TV rights dollars

Guess I can’t argue against that. Makes sense.

[quote]McLachlan grew up on his family farm “Rosebank”, located in Mount Pleasant, South Australia. His parents are Angus, a former first class cricketer, and Sylvia. His uncle, Ian McLachlan, was an Australian government Minister for Defence, and was long term President (up to 2014) of the South Australian Cricket Association.

After completing secondary school as a boarder at St Peter’s College, Adelaide,[1] he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Adelaide in 1995 and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) at the University of Melbourne in 1996, where he was a resident at Trinity College. He later completed the Senior Executive Program at Stanford University.

I seem to recall he had a decorated career in the VFL (or VFA)? Maybe played over 2 or 300 games so I’d say has spent most of his adult life in Victoria. Did you choose to leave that bit out Jack when copying and pasting from Wikipedia? By the way I haven’t bothered to search it myself.

Jack is more right than you DD. He never made the grade to play AFL or VFL. Just paddock footy mainly for Uni team.. He is a SOUTH AUSTRALIAN.. Very well educated & I think plays POLO. Go & watch the cruise ships off the west coast.. I’m a VIC & proud of it.. Never an EX VIC..

This language is unacceptable from you dickhead

Going by this from Wikipedia he started playing for Melbourne University football club in the VAFA (I’m assuming Victorian Amateur Football Association) from 1994 - 2003. Good enough for me to call him an adopted Victorian inbred. Definitely well entrenched and accepted among the Victorian elite.

Sports career
McLachlan played Australian football in the Hills Football League colts competition for the now defunct Pleasant Valley club. After moving to Melbourne, he played with Melbourne University Blues in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA).[1] Besides playing as a ruckman for the club (1994-2003), he was captain (2000-2002), C.W. McLeod Trophy for best-and-fairest (2000),[4] committeeman and made a life member (2003).[1][5] He was a regular VAFA Representative including captain. He was on the Carlton Football Club supplementary list from 1996 to 1997. McLachlan has represented Victoria in polo and has been a national selector.[1]

McLachlan is a Victorian just like Phar Lap, Russell Crowe and Keith Urban are Australians. B)

Don’t care where the germ is from - it has blown 1 billion plus on a stadium with some now useless roof and that’s just had half it’s value wiped by half by the banks
Feathered 12 Vicco clubs nests along with his own in the process and even more on overseas matches in countries that don’t even know what the game is let alone be interested in
Gold Coast ??? well not even Rugby can make that joint work and that’s a heartland of talent
That thing of a CEO is a spud failure that’s brought footy to it’s knees blinfolded the useless bastard

Hmmm…

[quote]The AFL’s decision to purchase the Docklands stadium in 2016 has proven crucial in recent days, with the league leveraging the venue ownership in negotiations with the banks.

Hmmmm… As opposed to a different viewpoint from The West’s Mark Duffield in Saturday’s West.

Mr Duffield may well be right, DD - however I suspect that when a bank is looking at assets to back a loan, they prefer the tangible variety eg a stadium, to the intangible eg the rights to stage certain events.

I am not an accountant, and therefore may well be wrong.
