AFL draft

I see the Eagles are interested in Ben Allen’s son in the upcoming draft.

I see that one of Freo’s draft goals is to get a ruckman. Freo doing what Freo does…lol.

A few West Aussie boys picked up on day 1.

Well done to the 4 WA boys picked in the first round. Particularly thrilled for the 2 Swannies boys taken. The Eagles have snapped up Gibney and Hewitt indicating their preference for local talent.
I’m sure there will be more WA players named this evening in the 2nd half of the draft

Just watched a video of Elijah Taylor. He seems like a very mature young man. Presents himself as being older than he is.

I think you mean Elijah Hewitt Sharkie. Taylor is the one from Perth delisted by the Swans after domestic violence charges. Joined EP last year.

Always scratch my heads at the AFL drafting logic…recycled footballers, whether that be through form or reoccurring injury, seem to be in flavour at a lot of clubs…WCE with Winder & Trew, Freo with Wagner, GCS with Blakely, North with Howe and Turner…I get it always handy to have a seasoned body to draw from who knows the game plans or its a financial restructure, but geez these guys have shown little consistency at the elite level let alone dominating at the next level down to warrant persevering with…

While there’s been a few big successes recycling, the ledger would lean heavily to the failures! I’d hate to be the recruiter making a call on it.

I cant speak on the other boys you have listed there Freeze but a bit harsh on Blakely I would have thought as he has played about 80 AFL games and has dominated in the WAFL averaging close to 30 disposals a game Freeze?

Yeah true BH, probably a tad harsh on Blakely, but in the streamed games I watched over the last year or two v EF and in the finals this year, Blakely has been pretty average TBH. Especially since he has nearly 80 games of AFL footy and conditioning under his belt v semi professional athletes. Mature ready to go sort, but has had 7 years on an AFL list to show his worth…but hey good luck to the guy…hope he proves me wrong.
