AFL Derby

We could be in for a cracker of a derby this week. Will depend on which Eagles team turns up and same with the Dorks.
I reckon they will be fairly pissed at dropping the game against carlcheat and it may give them a bit of extra intent.
Looking forward to this one.

Eagles will equal their record of 9 consecutive wins in derbies if they come out on top. Rumours around that Freo will unleash Sandilands on Saturday, tough on him given he hasnt played this year. Would be a crowd puller though with him going up against Nic Nat. I just think the Eagles are a better all round team as Freo seem to rely on a few ( read Fyfe and a couple of others). Who knows in a derby though, Freo might lift after that humiliating loss to the Blues
I’m sure Lyon will roll out a good excuse if they lose. He has more spin than a Shane Warne leg break.

There’s no doubt that Freo will come out fuming after the loss. The NN v Sandi clash is something I’m looking forward to.

Would be a huge call to bring Sandilands in, don’t see how it could happen myself - couldn’t ruck by himself and doubt Freo would want the bulk of Darcy and a 36 yo Sandilands out there on a greasy and slippery night. Eagles look far too strong all over the ground to me.

Totally agree, ToO - it would be madness to bring Sandilands in after more than 12 months, without any match fitness.

I think they will bring both Sandi and Lobb in for Darcy and Cox. This is Sandilands last year so they want to let him play one last Derby though not out of the question we meet in September.

As much as I would like to see NN v big Lurch, it would be a hell of a risk. Freo are fighting for a spot in the 8 with a couple of clubs breathing down their throats.

Don’t discount Eddie Munster staking his claim for a recall either.

Well they have done it and recalled big Sandi for his first game of the year. Lobb is in too so he won’t have to do it all on his own. Massive risk though although NicNat is still in the early stages of his comeback too.

Very intriguing I think. Lurch only has to stand at the centre bounce with his hands in the air and he’s half way home. Also Freo have played their best footy when
Lobb is there. Great to see the Govenator and Barrass back for the Eagles. I’m obviously going to tip the Eagles, but I think this one is open.

Surely that must be the end of the road for Lyon. That was a humiliating effort in front of their home crowd. Freo are going nowhere, the Eagles are possibly heading for back to back flags.

No argument from me.

me neither…maybe we should start a thread on the Freo section asking for his sacking.

That was ruthless, Freo got a massive black eye. Their jumpers probably don’t even need washing. Where does Sandilands fit into the rebuild? How can a 36yo who has barely played for three seasons suddenly become the number one ruckman at a crucial stage of the year, run out of ideas have you Ross?
And is that a record for most people to have left a game before halftime?

at least the wheels didn’t fall off. They had none.

What a fizzog. I really thought this would be a ripper. Even though Freo had 10 more clearances and 19 behinds on the
Board, they never looked like they were going to be competitive. Walters got obliterated, surely Fyffe is playing injured.
Once again, Tom Hickey played a good game and gets no recognition.
