The Eagles have been massive under performers in 2017 backing up from a disappointing 2016 when they were early premiership favourites after barnstorming their way into the grand final in 2015. Just haven’t progressed since then and the body language of Adam Simpson doesn’t really inspire in the coaches box and in interviews IMO. How long is he contracted until and will he see out his contract?
A lot said about Ross Lyon but this bloke doesn’t cop enough scrutiny for mine. I reckon if the likes of Jeremy McGovern hold off on contract talks and his brother Mitch ends up in purple that will signal a move on Simpson.
And do any real Eagles fans, not the ones who say they prefer the eagles over Fremantle, believe Peter Sumich should be the next Eagles coach and it should happen sooner rather than later AND, do you believe that is POSSIBLE while the likes of Trevor Nisbet is still in charge? Particularly given Sumich was unsuccessful in favor of Adam Simpson and he (Suma) was livid and let rip with criticism of the decision at the Eagles hierarchy at the time.

Reckon Simpson might still be safe for the duration of his contract and there will be a shakeup of the player list.
They might have a bit of work to do,to 1st Lure Mitch McGovern away from Freo,with a far better package,than what they’ve cobbled together so far.Strange goings on,for a Club with all that Power and Revenue at their disposal.Then if they secure Mitch,they still have work to do,to keep Jeremy happy.Or rather,their Managers!
Trevor N does not appoint from within the club; remember, Neil Craig had got the job to coach the Eagles over Worsfold, but decided to stay in Adelaide. His treatment of Sumich followed the same pattern.

The only reason Simpson does not come under such scrutiny is that the press in WA are terrified of what will happen if they go at Simpson the way that they go after Lyon and Fremantle.
The Eagles have the media, all media her in WA under their thumb.

There’s no doubt about it and I posted about this earlier , The Eagles have progressively gone backwards under Simpson after the flash in the pan GF appearance.
He can be thankful for Kennedy, who has almost single handily kept the Eagles competitive this year with his freak like accuracy in front of goal.
The bottom line is, Simpson was only ever going to be a work experience coach. The GWS performance was better than expected and they will no doubt has a crack against the Crows but the season is effectively over for them, no finals. There is more pain to come for eagles in next year or two and Simmo wont last. The eagles are a lot less forgiving than the dockers.

Before we go sacking Simpson, have a think and forget either a poor gut reaction or just dislike of anything WCE (sound a bit like old mate anchor don’t I?). As stated by you lot before, they have a couple of downhill skaters and a couple they should retire - time to replace them. One or two quick centre clearance players and a bit of help for JK and the team looks better. What about the support coaches - maybe Simmo has chosen them as a mates first selection when there could be better people around. Who did he have in the box when they made the GF and who do they have now? And for God’s sake, get rid of Gepp. Apart from sitting in the box looking dumb, what the hell does he do other than keep a better tactician out of the coaches box? Look at the Tigers - the board changed Hardwick’s role a little and obviously has given him a good support team. Don Pike obviously has a good support team. As for Suma, for mine thanks, but no thanks. He’s part of the past, so let’s move on. After all, he hasn’t been able to get a gig for a reason - what that reason is I don’t know, but it has to be there.
And for the dockers supporters…I saw an article recently where they suggested the Roos have Simmo on their radar. There ya go, you can make something of that can’t you??? :lol:

Yep, that’s it anchor. WCE are EVIL and the press are scared of them. Freo are the hard done by underdogs that are unfairly picked on.

Great servant as a player at the Eagles im not convinced with him as a senior coach.
Maybe hes one of these guys destined to be an assistant coach only,theres been plenty of them..
Its a pity he didnt leave the state and become an assistant at another AFL club it may have helped his cause..
The Eagles list is like any other AFL clubs list it has its list cloggers and a number of them need to be moved on.
Vozzo and or the recruiting people at the Eagles need to move on,our recruiting has been haphazard for the past few seasons and us like all t AFL teams we need to be smart when drafting
Yes i think the assistants need to be looked at,Longmuir for example has been there way to long.
The game plan certainly has to be looked at also.
If Simpson coached three losses of over 100 points in one season i would be questioning his coaching.
His coaching record to date after 4 years is not bad considering they unexpectedly made aGF in 2015 got beaten in a final by the eventual premiers in 2016 and he took the team after Woosha finished his last season as coach 13th in 2013 to missing finals by 1 game in his first year of 2014 and this year a likely miss again by just 1 game.
Yep he needs to get the Eagles back to playing finals in 2018 otherwise questions will be asked and,they need to be aggresive at the trade table and go hard after a couple of established players.
Forwards and mids who can slot straight into the 22 would be a great start.

30plus, I often wonder where their skill at the draft table has gone. Eagles were one of the most aggressive at the table and made some real coup’s. We don’t see a lot of that nowadays. So I agree, maybe Vozzo’s time is up.
