State Guv tipping coin in to get AFL weekend in Perth - lights and all for tier 2 credit
Southerner, where did you hear that?
Yes, I saw it too. New playing surface and lights so games from Gather Round can be played there if WA gets the rights to host it.
WA’s pitch to land the AFL’s Gather Round will be bolstered by a $5 million dollar upgrade to Leederville Oval including a complete re-turfing and a lighting boost.
Renamed Sullivan Logistics Stadium in 2023, the ground’s troubled playing surface is set to be replaced entirely this off season and its lights upgraded, elevating it to an AFL tier 2 venue.
Sources close to the deal say the State Government will contribute most of the money, with the City of Vincent, AFL and West Australian Football Commission also chipping in.
It’s understood Leederville Oval tenants, Subiaco and East Perth Football Clubs, will also contribute financially.
East Perth & Subiaco money will go to the facilities
Vincent gets it’s food , bev & entertainment strip
WAFC gets a budget we’re not fancy boutique venue
Needs every cent looked terrible on weekend.
Whats the plan for the outer are they rebuilding the tiers for seating?
Apparently a stand off between the council and the light people over who is restore the grass.
I don’t know if there’s been any improvement since the last Subi game.
What’s happening with the oval
The grass banks seem to be a real mess
The lights are excellent though
seeing a bit of the vision showed the centre circle area decidedly muddy
while it isn’t as bad as what it was it didn’t look good at all
hopefully that knits quickly otherwise it’ll spread just as quick
Green Grocer Park already shifted their centre circle closer to the grandstand side of the centre square when we played them.
