3rd Test in Adelaide

Surely they are just fking with us about Khawaja playing in this test match. Just let Richo loose at him in the nets they’ll see how well prepared he is for test cricket.

They’re looking after him in his Farewell Tour R & B,until the end of the Series, then Retirement.

He can’t be Serious about that 150th Anniversary Test in March 2027,otherwise he and CA really are F***ing with us!

I don’t think they will break up the Head/ Weatherald partnership at the top. They seem to bat really well together so the only spot he could really take is that of Josh Inglis who actually batted at 7 in Brisbane but I assume Ussie would bat at 5 if they picked him. Would be tough on Inglis if this was to occur.
The other consideration for Adelaide would be whether Green or Webster would offer more value as an all rounder in what is likely to be more batting friendly conditions. If Cam is not able to bowl 12 + overs in an innings, Webster would certainly offer more as a medium pace and spin option. Webster is not as good a batsman as Green although Cam is prone to the occasional brain fade as we saw in Brisbane.
With Cummins and Lyon coming back in, Doggett will almost certainly drop out along with either Neser or Boland. Tricky choice that one, both bowled really well in the 2nd test. The selectors may decide to pick Neser for Adelaide and rest up Scotty for his home boxing day test where he will hope to torment the Poms like he did 4 years ago.
For England I think they need to bite the bullet and bat Ben Stokes at number 3, apart from Joe Root he has the best technique in the team and OIlie Pope is too vulnerable outside off stump. Bat Jacks at 6, he showed enough in Brisbane to justify further chances. Tongue may also come in. Surely they also have to play Bashir who they have been building up for this tour.

Adelaide is going to be a batsman’s paradise again
but it will take spin if matches this year are anything to read
I’d take in Lyon and Webster for this one
with Inglis , Doggett going out
and probably either Boland / Neser for Cummins
if he is fit again that is
but again I’m unsure whether we can risk the Gatling gun opening here too
he plays well at home in the middle order where we are as dodgy as a weepy dick

Reckon this will be the XI.

Looks a well balanced team…wouldn’t mind that XI running out next week…though prefer Neser over Boland…hopefully Uzzie has a round or 2 of golf lined up for early next week

Labor Gov - Putting pressure on CA to Give Uzman a farewell match - then over to a nice safe seat in his community.

Are they?

Not really necessary to expose themselves, given the consensus amongst Cricket fans,CA will give him a Farewell Test anyway.

If it were up to me,the Farewell would be in an open top Car,doing a lap of Honour.

That sort of send off should only be reserved for the absolute greats Grassy eg - Bradman, Warne, McGrath, Ponting, Border, Chappell, Lillee, Marsh, Gilchrist etc
Khawaja has been a decent player nothing more and not worthy of carrying the greats bags to the ground!

Agree Mate.

But if they’re not playing, they seem to get that sort of send off anyway.

Not saying that’s necessarily deserved mind you!

But if that sort of Farewell helps the process in shuffling off the Veterans, give ‘em one!

Jhye Richardson is joining the squad in Adelaide which would seem to indicate that he is being considered for either the Melbourne or Sydney tests. Cummins will be rusty when he comes in, needs a good bowl in match conditions. They may put Webster in place of Inglis for an extra bowling option on what is likely to be a benign pitch

seems Cummins might not make it until Boxing Day after all

Webster surely comes in for Inglis, and Lyon for Doggett…though Adelaide oval is Doggett’s home turf of late, so I wonder if Doggett is a chance to keep his spot…if it’s a benign Adelaide pitch, I don’t fancy England’s bowler’s chances then…

David Warner and Brett Lee are also pushing for Uzzie to play in, Adelaide.
With the flatter wickets in Adelaide,Melbourne +Sydney.More suited to Uzzie.
Imo Weatherald hasn’t done much wrong, at this piont. And deserves his spot on form.In front of his home SA crowd.

Does anyone know how CA.Lost 12 million dollars in 2024.
Indian tour with massive crowds.
BBL up and about.
Womans Cricket growing and played to a reasonable standard.
Big pay tv deals with 7+Fox+Kayo.And on sold to Indian broadcasters. With record tv and radio ratings.
Sponsors lining up for the test summer.
Are these 3 day tests.Starting to hurt the bottom line.
Is 50 over Cricket,losing money.

Only your opinion, and I would say it ain’t worth much.
I generally stay out of politiical discussions, but this one is being done in a cricket topic.
I don’t comment because there are too many right wingers here with their views that I do not agree with.
I find this post disrespectful to say the least.

@gtrxuone I think ODIs have been a a disaster for World cricket for a long time. Not sure whether they disband the entire ODI calendar. But I am sure they wont.
You would have thought the Indian visit would have been a purse filler. But seems not.
Is the W side of things costing that much money that CA is losing money!!

Anchor as we know AFLW is hemrigiding money.Maby Cricket is the same?

I think you are correct. The Aussie girls squad test team etc, should be paying their way I would think.
Maybe BBLW is still getting a free ride.
